I think I will forever be a Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd fan. Gimme that weird shit.

Check out Roger Waters' Radio KAOS and Amused to Death.

David Gilmour's self titled first solo album and the follow up About Face were very good. On an Island was recent in like 06.

Any fan of PF I highly advise checking em out.

Thanks for sharing Chaz, I'd never heard of John Prine but I love it. I think I shall fall down a YouTube hole and listen to all I can find.

I shared a while back that my wife and I went to a place over in the Bywater district downtown (immediately east of Marigny and the French Quarter) called Art Garage where we were treated to a variety show that included three comedians and two musicians. One of the musicians was a woman names Cyrille Aimee (Sue-ree-al M-A), a French Jazz singer who lives here in New Orleans but is from a village outside Paris (via New York). She share her story of moving here from New York, to New York from Paris, and of becoming a citizen two years ago.

I really enjoyed her story, but I was blown away when she started singing. She sang a Jazz song in French and then did a song on a looper. If you don't know what a looper is it's a small electronic device you can use to create segments of music you want to loop for something. Typically it's used in studio recording sessions.

She brought one on stage and made a whole song by herself in front. It was awesone hearing her craft each individual piece of her song and slowly build it all and put it all together into a finished product called "Down" about moving from NYC to New Orleans.

The first song below is "Nuit Blanche" performed at a club in France, the second song is "Down" performed on the street over in Bywater in NOLA.

I usually let that one wash by, but it has that character of a song that becomes the favorite after many listens to the whole album. It reminds me of a song like that. Different band. It will come to me.

    Probably some Beatles song.

Anyway, I've been on a Filmmaker kick lately. Guy has put out eight albums within the past 10 months, they all kick ass. Electronic. Think Aphex Twin and HP Lovecraft have a baby in Columbia.

It grows for sure. I like these lines:

"There's a solitary man crying, hold me
    It's only because he's a-lonely
If the keeper of time runs slowly
He won't be alive for long"

But Straight to Hell's probably my favorite. The drum work on that song is phenomenal. I've been listening to the few live versions of that song that exist and it just feels significant.

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
