Same here. Funny thing is, I think my buddy was selling weed to my mom. We were 13 at the time. Awkward.

That was the friend that introduced me to cigarettes. We weren't good for each other growing up. Being introduced to Metallica wasn't good for me either, not as unstable as I was. I'm quite thankful I survived those days.

    Chopin's second sonata.

He composed three. The first was mainly forgettable. The second and third are among the top 100 solo piano works ever, at least according to a bunch of classical music loving wankers.

The most recognizable portion of the sonata is the third movement, the so called Funeral March.

Here's a bit more about it from wiki.

The first movement features a stormy opening theme and a gently lyrical second theme. The second movement is a virtuoso scherzo with a more relaxed melodic central section. The third movement begins and ends with the celebrated funeral march in B-flat minor which gives the sonata its nickname, but has a calm interlude in D-flat major. The finale contains a whirlwind of unremitting parallel octaves, with unvarying tempo and dynamics, and not a single rest or chord until the final bars. James Huneker, in his introduction to the American version of Mikuli edition of the Sonatas, quotes Chopin as saying, "The left hand unisono with the right hand are gossiping after the March." Arthur Rubinstein is said to have remarked that the fourth movement is the "wind howling around the gravestones". The Sonata confused contemporary critics, who found it lacked cohesion. Robert Schumann suggested that Chopin had in this sonata "simply bound together four of his most unruly children."

Boss bassline, catchy tune. But yeah, too strange for the conventional palate.

Some good stuff there. The spotify playlist is a godsend. I managed to block out the woes of modern pop country enough that I missed this gem:

    She's also quite a babe.
