This song alone is better than the whole "Star Crossed Wasteland" album.

So yea, caught Velvet Goldmine the other day as the plot seemed interesting. It turned out to be an ok movie but just a tad bit too much man on man action for my personal liking. I will never be able to see Christian Bale in another light ever again. lmao

Either way, this came off the soundtrack and i cant get it out of my head but its good.

    The full documentary...

*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I like to see the Tinker recognizing greatness in other mediums than Hip Hop or Rap...it's why I take his submissions from the Hip Hop genre seriously.

I would be cheating myself if I didn't try to expand my musical horizons. Besides, it's Dylan. I'd really like to see that other movie that was made recently about his life. I think it's called "I'm Not There"

This is the first time I've seen No Direction Home. Dylan wasn't a great singer, or a great performer, but he revolutionized the musical thought process, both lyrically, and somewhat subtlely musically, as well.

I've read parts of Tarantula, which was in his own words and quite off the wall and mostly bullshit regarding his true past, and I've also read Who Is That Man? By David Dalton, which was an unbelievably thorough look at who Dylan really is.

You could make a valid argument that Dylan is the greatest songwriter who ever lived. My personal list would be

    1. Dylan
    2. Shane MacGowan
    3. Tom Waits
    4. Warren Zevon

Just my opinion. And before people rip for Shane, I read an article a few years ago that quoted Dylan himself calling MacGowan "the greatest living songwriter". It's hard to understand what the drunk basterd is singing but once uou figure it out you can't help but admire his songwriting prowess.

And Zevon is the shit. "i went to work at my father's carpet store, laying tacless stripping and houswives by the score". You just can't beat that shit folks.

Tom Waits speaks for himself. I kinda have a love/hate relationship with Tom's music. I don't care at all for his beatnic type stuff but his other stuff is absolutely amazing. Check out Bottom of The World and Take Care of all of My Children for some excellent examples of Tom Waits' lyrics.

Love Dylan and Warren Zevon. Got Zevon's Greatest Hits laying on my speaker. Started listening to him in college.

    My favorite ever Metallica song.

I absolutely LOVE the S&M album! It's like adding bacon to... whatever. This would have been one bad ass concert.

I think my songwriters would go something like:
    1. Bob Dylan
    2. John Lennon
    3. Billy Corgan
    4. John Denver
    5. Paul McCartney

I know my list is fairly mainstream, but I've always felt that there's a reason people love their music. And it's because it's good. I do love some off the wall musicians, such as Widespread Panic, Leftover Salmon and String Cheese Incident. Big Head Todd wrote some great songs, both lyrically and musically, and I don't think they got recognized as songwriters as much as they should have.

There's a reason McCartney and Dylan are covered more than any other artists.

Also Paul Simon is a fantastic songwriter. In a very eclectic way, Ben Harper is an excellent song writer, there's lots of feel and soul to his music.
