Medford Broncos Preseason Outlook and Preseason Super Bowl Pick

You ever get the feeling that you are not sure of what to expect?
This is how I feelabout our Broncos for the 2008 season.
I think Denver can finish anywherebetween 6-10 and 10-6.
I am neither pessimistic or optomistic. Last seasons fiasco kind of took
my eternal optomism going into each Bronco season.
If the Broncos stay healthy and that is a big if, I feel that we
should do no worse than 8-8 and could be 10-6 at least. I think
the Broncos easy schedule on paper, should lend itself to being better
than last season. Other important factors in this include, Culter having
more experience under his belt that should improve the offenses overall
ability to score more points than last season. Also some other factors
that I think will improve the offense are the additions of Darryl Jackson
and Eddie Royal. Once Brandon Marshall serves his time and hopefully
grows up, this offense has the ability on paper at least to score
some points and hopefully scare some people like the good old days.
The defense has to be better just by osmosis and hopefully by the addition
of some talent in both the LB corp and on the defensive line. Lets hope
Shanny can pull some magic out of his hat and lead this team to
a playoff spot, which is what they are capable of. Only time will tell.

Now the teams that I feel will be major factors this year and my
pre-season Super Bowl matchup (now dont go running to Vegas
on me with this lol) are the Jacksonville Jaguars vs the Dallas Cowboys.

Lets take a look at why I feel this way. I think the Jaguars excellent
coach and Jack Del Rio. They know how to run the ball which is
very important in any team having a successful season and I also
feel that its time for them to unseat the Colts in their division and get
a bye in the playoffs so that they would only have to win the two game
to get to the Super Bowl. You know that teams usually only have a small
window of opportunity to make a run at a Super Bowl and with David
Garrard being more comfortable at QB, the tandem of
Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor some new faces
at wideout that include the talented but enimatcic Jerry Porter
should make for a good offense. Their defensive line
has been good for years and a good secondary and an overall
feeling that this is a tough team should bode well for them.
I alse felt with the Jags being battle tested last season will help
them immensely this year. Lastly I feel that they will finally
push the Colts to a Wild Card team this year and win the AFC
South as they so very much deserve.

Now in the NFC I like the Cowboys for a variety of reasons. First
they were very good last year and experienced disappointment
and should be very motivated to go further than last year, second
they have tons of talent with an offense that can score with anybody
with Romo going into this 2nd full year as a starter, Marion Barber
being the full time starter and adding Felix Jones to help him
split the load and having Jason Witten and TO this offense
is as good as anyone in the league. Their defense should be
better running Phillips system for another year. I feel that the Cowboys
will win the NFC and if they stay healthy, it would be a major
disappointment for them to not at least be in the NFC Championship
    game.

So to reacap, Broncos if healthy and things go correct I see
possible 10-6 record and my two Super Bowl teams
are humbly picked as the Jags (12-4) vs the Cowboys (12-4).
I hope all the great posters here enjoyed reading this as much
    as I did writing it.

I can agree with the Dallas pick, but I just don't see Jacksonville beating out Indy or the Patsies.

Well Peyton's knee does not seem to be as serious as first thought but early in the season that could linger and that could be the advantage the Jags need facing them in week three. Interesting pick, like you said they always seem to have a solid team just never could find that next level. Tough schedule as teh rest of the division has gotten better but if they survive and can find a playmaker at WR you never know.

I just want some new blood in there in the AFC for once.

    Dark horses:

    NFC: New Orleans Saints

    AFC: Cleveland Browns

I like the Saints to contend in a weak NFC.

I think the Browns have too many good teams in the AFC to overcome.

Dont get me wrong I think they are good, but 9-7ish or 10-6.

    Is their defense good enough?
Their divison is awesome with only the Ravens being bad.
Pitt is good, Cleveland is good and the Bengals will be improved IMHO

Well I don't know if the Browns can be viewed as a dark horse. 5 primetme games, everyone is talking about Braylon Edwards, and their QB's so people know who they are. Now the defense it comes down to their secondary. They have so much money in the front seven they need them to pressure the QB to survive. Jones is the only proven player in the secondary. I think they can get it done, Willy, Davis, Jackson, Wimbley, Williams, Rodgers, and Smith I like that front seven. THe less time in coverage the better.

Still want to see Anderson come out in the first couple of weeks and see how he does but they have enough to stay in it. A tough division race that will be interesting to watch.

I was watching the NFL Network and a sportscaster said the Bengals have been going backwards; I think he's right. They already had Chad and T.J., yet they use a 2nd, 3rd, and 7th to draft WRs. They've released Chris Henry because the organization does not want to be associated with him and his transgressions, yet they're thinking of bringing him back because they could be thin at WR. Their QB is an excellent leader, but their organization from the head coach and up need real leadership and direction. This was a dangerous up and coming team with tons of potential, with one of the best QBs and arguably the best starting 3 receiver corps in the league. How could they not keep their key players in check and also try to keep them happy?

Well none of the rookie WR's have shown anything in camp, Chad and TJ have noth been nursing injuries, they realsed Maxwell a guy that was showing signs of being teh number three due to injury, Henry cna come right in and play after the suspension and they know what he can do. Still does not look good sign Lweis wanted him gone but management brings him back.
