    Default Prospects i like

Time to start tossing out some names that I am keeping an eye on for the 2011 draft. Our biggest needs in the 2010 draft were OLine depth as well as WR help. I doubt either really get addressed in 2011 as we took 2 WRs and 3 OL. Now need to get younger/bigger on the DLine and ILB and younger in the secondary. Luckily, this draft is full of ILB and 3-4 DE prospects. You never know who all will declare, but here are some seniors, and a few juniors, who I think would look real good in Denver. (1st round desires in bold)

QB...Not even worth mentioning due to the addition of Tebow and Orton's extension.

RB...In what is expected to be a down year for RBs, Mark Ingram is CLEARLY #1 if he comes out. I think we're in good shape to wait until 2012 for depth at this position. The current list of college sophomore RBs is incredible.

WR...Another spot I'm pretty sure we avoid in 2011, although it could be a great class if juniors declare. From Julio Jones and AJ Green to Jonathan Baldwin and Michael Floyd, there are plenty of legit studs here. With Thomas, Royal and Decker, we have youth. Lloyd and Gaffney give vet leadership. That said, I am intrigued by:

    Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy...5'9" 190...4.32 40YD

OL...Again, I think we go other directions. I won't be surprised if we draft NO olinemen in 2011.

NT...Now we're at the spot that needs addressed. Adding Jamal Williams is a short term fix. We need a young stud who will be here a while. Problem is, NTs are gonna be limited this year. DTs are loaded, but few have the necessary girth.

    Jerrell Powe, DT, Mississippi...6'2" 340
    Kendrick Ellis, DT, Hampton...6'5" 340
    Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor...6'4 330

DE...I wanted Tyson Jackson in 2009 and he has a clone in Cam Heyward. This is one draft where we can land a stud 3-4 DE even if Heyward goes too early. We WILL get one. I'd like to see us get 2.

    Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa...6'4" 285
Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State...6'5" 288
    Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama...6'4" 306
Allen Bailey, DE, Miami (FL)...6'4" 285
Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina...6'3" 310

Pernell McPhee, DE, Mississippi State...6'4" 285
    Cameron Jordan, DE, California...6'4" 283

OLB...Another position where I believe our depth is good. If we sign Elvis, I like what we have as a whole. Prospects this year seem limited.

Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M...6'3" 243
    Dontay Moch, OLB, Nevada...6'1" 245

ILB...Some GREAT candidates here. If the Bama junior declares, he may be the next big thing. We're talking Ray Ray/Pat Willis big. I really think we need a destructive force and he would be my #1 choice for our 1st round pick in 2011.

    Dont'a Hightower, MLB, Alabama...6'4" 260
    Scott Lutrus, MLB, UConn...6'3" 245
    Mike Mohamed, ILB, California...6'3" 245

CB...Interesting spot here. We drafted a couple in 2010, but they were late picks...who appear to be showing very well. So what do you do? Our starters are old, but there are some great prospects.

    Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU...6'1" 222
    Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska...6'1" 205

    Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia...6'2" 200

S...Again, aging Safeties in Denver, but we have recent draft picks playing minutes. Not our biggest need and prospects are quite limited.

    Rahim Moore, S, UCLA...6'1" 196
    Deunta Williams, S, North Carolina...6'2" 215
    DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson...6'1" 215

I agree, next year should be defensive heavy.

I have a feeling the draft and free agency threads are going to be more popular as the season progresses.

Good read BTW. I know we probably won't look at qb's but Ponder from FSU looks like a good pro level prospect.

We need a DE/NT/ILB/OLB/RB next draft and perhaps a Depth Tackle and TE as well......

    some of my wishfuls.....

DE- Adrian Clayborn/Cameron Heyward/Cameron Jordan are the only 3 i want
NT- Powe or bust here period we dont have a shot at Dareus, Ellis may be a option, but so much unknown about him this early though....
ILB- Dont Hightower, Quan Sturdivant, Brad Jefferson
OLB- Von Miller, Bruce Miller, Adrian Robinson
    RB- Shane Verneen, Da'rell Scott

Its almot a guarantee that Hightower, Ingram and Jones will declare for the draft from Bama.

Having said that, I was EXTREMELY impressed with Adrian Clayborn in last year's Orange Bowl against GT. Where I think we draft might be out of reach for Dareus but Clayborn should be available.

    So, something like this?

    FA
ILB DAVID HARRIS (NYJ) The Jets have handed out so many contracts this last offseason and still have alot of FA's they are going to need to try to keep.
Mangold, Ferguson and Ellis are due as well, so keeping Harris is gonna be tough knowing he can get much more in FA. (Other option- David Hawthorne, SEA)
DE CULLEN JENKINS (GB) Could be a nice bookend to Bannan and help add depth to a line that isnt getting much of a push into the backfield.
    SUPRISE!!!
RB RONNIE BROWN (MIA) If White can't come back from his 2 pizza-a-day regiment while off his feet for the next 6 months, and Maroney doesnt light it up this year, DEN may just want to throw some coin at this guy to lighten the work load in the DEN backfield.
A Moreno/Brown tandem would make the offense absolutely terrifying.
Browns injuries would be less of a concern sharing the load with Moreno too. MIA also has some serious contracts to address, and more than likely they will look at bringing in someone like Ingram to add fresh feet to their offense. I wouldnt be suprised if they draft 2 RBs in the top 4 rounds.
    DRAFT
    1. ADRIAN CLAYBORN, DE/DT, IOWA
    2. BRUCE CARTER, OLB, NC
    2. ADRIAN ROBINSON, OLB,DE TEMPLE
    3. PHIL TAYLOR, NT, BAYLOR
    6. STEVE SKELTON, TE, FORDHAM
    6. DAN WENGER, C/G, ND

OK, so flame away! (Its early guys, so cut me some slack!)
