Default Art Modell - Dead at 87

Not sure how people will think of or remember him.

One of the most influential owners in the history of the NFL, Art Modell helped mold the foundation of the league.

The innovative Modell, whose reputation was forever tainted when he moved his franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore, died early Thursday. He was 87.

The team said Modell died of natural causes at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he had been admitted Wednesday.

RIP to one of the innovators of the NFL.

He lived a long life, now he's dead.

    Time for fresh ideas.

They're going to bury him in Cleveland and move his body to Baltimore in 50 years.

I know a lot of Cleveland area fans hate his guts (ask Houstonians how they feel about Bud Adams while you're at it) but I'm going to remember Modell for two things - one, the classy way Modell handled the Ernie Davis situation back in the early 60s, and two, the way Modell's television committee seemed to get it across to the tv networks how Modell's mug was always to appear at least once on every Browns telecast. The only other owner who almost always got his face on tv every game was Al Davis although Jerry Jones is right up there with him.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
