I also don't like when they split up episodes and focus on one person or group and you're left hanging on big storyline for a couple weeks. On top of it, to invest an entire hour to characters that we, as viewers, don't care about and have no invested interest in is rather silly. I don't care about the new cop or the new doc, I almost don't care too much about Beth to be honest.![]()
It's early...but this season has sucked so far
One positive was being able to look at Beth for an hour...

I have actually liked this season so far... this show was a dud though. I like the pace of the story this season, no spending countless episodes on one problem.
I get they wanted to build Noah's character a bit and also see what Beth has been doing but yeah it was a pretty stale episode.
i thought the show was pretty cool. Seeing Atlanta and all again.
Yes, that's exactly what my wife said after the episode as well.
I was torn on the episode. I didn't think it was horrible, but it was definitely one of the weaker episodes I can remember. I would have much preferred they just ran this storyline in parallel with "the road to terminus" at the end of last season, rather than take 6 or 8 episodes to build up to it and then do a flashback/catchup episode dedicated to it.
Ya, ditto. There is something about her.
Based on either the first talking dead or the preview show done with the talking dead guy, I get the feeling that they are going to do a lot of episodes spent on only one group, rather than bouncing back and forth. He said that so much time would be spent on multiple separate groups this season (I figured one would be Garreth, didn't expect him to be gone so quickly) that they didn't have time to do all the backstory stuff they did last season (fine with me, I didn't like that flashback/backstory stuff).
It's also almost like they have been working hard to make Beth more of a main character, rather than just the girl that tries to kill herself, freaks out and babysits Judith. Before she was grabbed, you had Darryl teaching her how to track and fight, and she was more front and center. Now, you have the whole episode, with her proving she is tougher than the cop thinks. Maybe all of this to jump her into a more prominent role when she returns to the group.
Now, I will be really ticked if all of this time was wasted on Beth and she gets taken out by a walker (or human) in the next few episodes.
Episode wasn't awful. When you have a buttload of characters, you have to build arcs which means dedicating proper time to certain characters. Beth actually showed some character growth by the end of this episode. Character development is what makes shows good, so I didn't mind the episode one bit.
This could be bad news for all you DirecTv subscribers:
