The most overrated game in recent memory IMO.

Still haven't played it. If it ever drops to 29.99 I may pick it up because I liked Oblivion.

No kidding. Halo 3 was so anti-climatic. Ever hear of a final boss or at least a giant battle, Bungie? Online was pretty fun though.

    Aye.

If I remember right, Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 came out pretty much around the same time. I had ample time with them both. Going from HL-2 to Halo 2 was like going from Disney World to a inner-city school playground.

I disagree on many levels here. The games being compared are all different animals.

Halo are run and gun shooters ala Call of Duty.

Half Life is a mix of shooting, puzzle solving and platforming similar to Bioshock now.

Fallout 3 is an RPG that was marketed as a FPS and it CLEARLY is not.

As far as run and gun goes, UT 3 > Halo. You want rich online play? TF2. Going from Halo to either one of those games is like thinking that ground chuck is the best thing ever before taking a bite of a dry aged fillet.

Oh, and Shazam, if you ever want to try your hand at PC gaming, Stalker is what you want Fallout 3 to be.

The original Halo was pretty sweet and pretty groundbreaking at the time. It had sweet graphics, by far the best controls for a FPS ever, great multiplayer, cool vehicles, a cool story, superb music, and it set the standard for many things that are the the norm in most games today. I agree they probably could have done better with the sequels, but they were still solid games.

Also, I don't think FO3 was ever marketed as a FPS. Maybe some of the trailers made it look that way, but I don't think they were trying to really trick anyone.

Edit: And with all this talk about Valve, Portal is the best game they have made IMO. Portal 2 plz!

Shit, I've played PC games my whole life and STALKER kicked my ass royally. Awesome game though, I think it had the fundamentals of the "survival" aspect better than Fallout 3.

The difference is that Halo was groundbreaking for FPSs on consoles. PC games have always had epic shooters, but Halo was the first of it's kind seen on consoles. You can see it's influence on nearly every FPS nowadays.

I also thought that H2 and 3 had great stories. Playing as the Arbiter in H2 I thought was great to see the conflict at another end of the spectrum, and the boss in H2... The Brute was good.

Sure, the end wasn't what people wanted in H3, but as suggested about the 'boss', Gravemind and The Flood was exactly that.

Shazam, have you played HL2 on the console? Episodes 1 and 2 as well. (You can get them all on the Orange Box ) The story of HL and the single player gameplay beats Halo any day. Yes the orignial HL2 had a puzzle element to it, but the action and story are way more engaging than Halo. And I have tried Halo, both on PC and XBox. So I'm only half talking out of my ass.

I played HL2. I know it's a great series. Doctor Freeman is as epic a character as Master Chief. As far as the story being more engaging than Halo, that's debatable and I don't agree.

The bottom line is longtime PC gamers generally don't like console games.

The thing is that I am a long time console gamer as well. My first console was an atari 2600.

I admit that I am very biased against Halo. However, Red vs. Blue has given me much enjoyment.
