    The Predator- 5/10

Not sure why its so difficult for modern movie makers to make quality Predator movies but they have really been missing the mark. To date the only Predator movie really worth a damn for me is AVP: Requiem and of course the first two originals.

Manners like that will take you a long ways son.

I saw it, fully sober I will add, at AMC in highlands ranch. They have seats that recline, it's nice.

As for the substance, what you ask is difficult. I was pleased to watch the movie knowing only that a hustle was afoot. It's important to preserve this ignorance going in.

What made the movie so good?

    1. Characters. You know how pulp fiction had some truly inventive characters? Same.
    2. Plot--situational comedy. Absurd and cohesive--ordinary yet compelling.
    3. Novel and surprising twists. There are several moments of escalating tension where shit suddenly gets real--even more real than before.
    4. Humor. Perhaps, like me, you will find yourself laughing out loud. But movie is a tragedy. Or comedy. 50/50 tragedy comedy. Maybe 60/40.
    5. Peach fuzz plays an important role but not like you think.
    6. Elitist ennui.
    7. That wtf do I think about it feeling that doesn't easily unpack.

I was really disappointed in this flick as well.
I figured since Shane Black wrote and directed it, it would be really solid.
99% of the rest of his stuff is fantastic (The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon etc...).
Not to mention, he wrote 50% of the screenplay for (and starred in) the original.
Either he really dropped the ball on this one or the studio interfered so badly that the end product sucked.
I like to give good directors the benefit of the doubt.

Predator '87 is the best Predator movie. Badass group.

Schwarzenegger smoked a cigar... Jesse Venture wore MTV T-shirt... Carl Weather with hard-nosed attitude.... Bill Duke broke razor while shaving... What a fun group!

Watched Best of Times. 10/10. I freaking love that movie. Rotten tomatoes has it at 33%. What kind of loathsome, joyless **** gives that movie a low score?

The Watchmen. 10 out of 10. Best comic movie around, and a great movie. Just short of Godfather level.

We agree. It's settled then! One of the best graphic novels ever!

Tomorrow is the last day to watch Blade Runner before it takes place in the past. The date in the movie was November 20th! First Back to the Future 2 now this... and we are still not closer to cyberpunk landscapes or hover boards!

Infini - 7/10. Pleasantly surprised. Pretty solid for low budget sci-fi. Nothing spectacular, but worth a watch.
