Which Godzilla? 2014 or King of the Monsters?

Very good flick and Phoenix was exceptional. I still love Ledgers version of the Joker best although i can kind of see this version leading up to what Ledger's version ultimately became. I saw the final sequence playing out like it did but it was executed so well. I dont know what that says about me however as i didnt feel bleak or down after this movie. I was actually quite joyous and wanted more mayhem to take place. Its been said by a few others but Phoenix does deserve an Oscar for this performance.
I'm going to see this movie next week but when I saw the preview, particularly the dance on the steps had me thinking "wait that looks like...". We have a lot of those types of stairs in the Bronx and I HATE them. That particular one is walking distance from Yankee Stadium and a personal horror for me as a kid lol. Today because of the film it's becoming somewhat of a tourist attraction from what I hear.

Shutter Island. 2 out of 10 stars. I guessed the ending in the first half hour. Outside of that, 8-10, because it was ******* wonderful. Overall grade - 7.5.

But the bad guy was the good guy because of social and economic realities he faced. Fleeing persecution and violence from his place of origin, he entered a world hostile to him. All he had ever known was violence, and all people ever saw in him was the ability to be violent. The world was Dr. Frankenstein. He was Frankenstein's monster. But a monster who mostly only harmed those in his world. He had a code, something specific to him and his world. Even if he was intrinsically evil, he was made that way through no fault of his own. He wasn't a sociopath though as he could feel love. If he was an arsonist the world handed him gasoline and a match.

I don't really believe that. But it was fun to write.

He says that, drunk, because the world needs to point and say "there. There goes the bad guy" so they can feel a little more secure in their own sinful lives. Tony Montana is an anti-hero, and a badass.

Nah, just doesnt have the same vibe as TDR's. Sid Haig was sorely missed from this one even though i do like Richard Brake who was quite excellent in 31.
