Damn. Not on Netflix. We think we’re cutting the cord/ saving cash when we get rid of cable but now if you want to see everything you have to have like 5 different subscriptions.

    Apostle 7.5/10

Netflix. Brother goes to save sister from cult who kidnapped her in 1905 to a remote English island. And then shit gets weird and creepy and supernatural.

I’m not sure what just happened, but I kind of liked it.

Considering the movie is based on real life, it’s a movie about political extremism in Oslo, Norway. It’s comparative to Timothy McVeigh. It’s not for the faint of heart. I did feel for the victims.

Deadpool 2 7.5/10. It was funny and had the same/more of the "meta" comic book jokes as the original. Somehow, this time around they aren't quite as fresh though.

Still, it's a funny action flick.

It's viral marketing. He's building buzz for his upcoming review.

    Pulled me in.

Story about a dude who killed a bunch of people in Norway. Smart guy who needed to be heard but was all messed up in his own head. What he did was horrific, I wasn't familiar with the event. Wow. The film recreates the events in vivid detail. Kind of like watching a youtube video of a beheading that you know is the real thing. But not real ofc. Still intense.

Then there's still a shit ton of movie left, so you think, what the hell am I going to watch? It's a story about a family with a kid who was shot but wasn't killed. They put the pieces back together.

Meanwhile, the crazy dude is trying to frame his whole thing like an act of war and he's the hero. The actor does a fantastic job.

Sometimes a writer and director know how to pack meaning into a film, this was one of those. Great ending. Longish. Would recommend.

    Political comments in spoiler

Overall vibe was decidedly pro-Muslim immigration WRT Norway and Europe. Anti-immigration perspective was made puerile and stupidly xenophobic. I think that's fine because it's about a crazy dude and his justification was shitty, but that perspective will ruffle feathers. There's probably some reasonable complaints about the immigration situation, this movie plainly ignores them, so in a sense it could be a polarizing political documentary. I don't know what to make of all that. It was a good flick. I'd appreciate if someone gave their perspective on that aspect of the film, if they felt sensitive to that lens.
