Cold in July- 2014. Michael C Hall, Sam Shephard, & Don Johnson. 8/10

Hidden gem from 9 yrs ago. Just when you think you know which way this movie is going, it throws you a curve ball halfway through that turns the story in a completely different direction. Hall plays an ordinary family man that accidentally kills a home invader one night. He is cleared by local police who declare it was in defense of family. Then the dead manís lowlife father(Shepherd) comes looking for revenge for killing his son by threatening Hallís son.

Hall gets evidence that the man he killed wasnít the fatherís son, and a conspiracy begins to brew. This is when Don Johnson appears as a PI hired by the vengeful father to get to the bottom of things. The investigation then takes an unexpected turn that rallies all 3 men together to come to a closure.

Iím not going to spoil the event that changes everything, including the tone of the movie, but let me just say that when it happens, youíll know it. It is so disturbing, and well done, that you feel the emotion and rage of the 3 participants involved. That is good directing by Jim Mickle.

This is Don Johnsonís best role I have seen from him in a very long time, but all three actors do their job well. Highly recommend if you like Independent films that are a bit gritty and have an effective twist in plot.

Soo happy that James Gunn is in charge of DC now. He's currently working on his Superman movie and his Suicide Squad/Peacemaker 1-2 punch was some of my favorite stuff of the past few years. Just a quality filmmaker. Hard to believe he got his start in Troma Films! I think he wrote one of the Toxic Avenger movies and his own first movie he wrote was Tromeo and Juliet. The PERFECT wtf movie for a teenager to discover renting videos back in 1996 like me lol:

Air - the story about how Nike got jordon. 6 out of 10. Decent acting but I felt something was a little off. It’s free on prime
"We saw itÖ. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish ritersÖ. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard
