The Girl on the Train- 7/10
Standard affair of a woman who after being dumped by her husband for another woman spirals out of control with her alcohol abuse and pretends to go to work everyday (think of Falling Down) taking a commuter train. On her train rides she passes by her old neighborhood where her ex now lives in their old house to which she in a drunken state occasionally calls and harasses them. She also takes notice of a younger married couple a few doors down on her train trips until one day she notices the younger woman kissing another man on the balcony of her house. In her anger about what she thought was the perfect marriage between the young couple she confronts the young woman when she is jogging one day. The next day she is covered in blood and trying to put back the pieces of what happened as the young married woman has disappeared. The movie does its job of using misdirection but pretty much leaves itself open to how and what happens. My wife was more interested in this than i was but Emily Blunt puts on a pretty good acting job in this, at least one of the better roles ive seen her in.
