not sure chanesaw. I remember it though, it had all those meerkats. in the book it described molars of the deceased wrapped up in leaves, not so in the movie. but I remember that island. it was a floating island.

    Grudge Match... 3/10

Terrible movie but the bonus scene in the credits with Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield was good, and thats why it got the 3 instead of a 1

The island was an illusion of paradise. It showed up miraculously just at the time when they needed most to refuel, but its greatness did not last forever. I do like your interpretation and think it makes sense also. The island could also be a reminder that, while there are some great things on this earth, life's imperfections do not allow things do not stay great forever. Happiness based on earthly desires is fleeting.

I thought it was just filler, like the author ran out of ideas and needed a quick interlude before moving on with the rest of the book.

    Boyhood 8.5/10

If you guys don't know about this movie, it's the one that the director used the same kid (actually, family) and filmed this over a 12 year span. A REAL 12 year span. The story revolves around the boy, and you watch him grow up from a 6 yr old kid through HS and onto college. Patrica Arquette, Ethan Hawk are the two names I recognized. Was pretty cool to see this story (wasn't a documentary onthe kid's real life, he plays a part that he continues to play through the 12 yrs of his life) develope and see the kid at the end of the movie is REALLY the 6 yr old that you watched as a boy earlier inthe movie.

The director did a FANTASTIC job of transitioning through the movie as time moved forward. I never felt as though you could see the difference in quality, in direction, in styles or styles. It felt as if this movie was made in the normal "few months" that most are made in, yet it was filmed over 12 years. VERY cool. It's 2:45, but it didn't feel like I was bored or looking for the clock/watch. We most probably will never see another movie made with the same actors that was developed over a decade to film. I recommend it for that reason alone.

I saw this... it was unusual, but a fun flic. Light hearted and kept you guessing (in a sense). I don't want to give it away, but was surprised with the ending. 8/10

I loved how they treated Ethan Hawke's character. At first he was like a stereotypical deadbeat dad but he was there for his son when it counted. I love his speech in the concert venue about not getting hung up on girls who don't give a crap about you.

I said the ame thing. Was good that they showed the Dad "grow up".. and despite him moving away because he didn't want a family, move back and REALLY want to be a part of his kids life..being a good dad.. and being there for his kids. I thought Arquette did a great job as well being the single mom tht would do "what she had to" to make it as a single woman raising two kids.
