No - never - is it worth a read?
No - never - is it worth a read?
I read the first foundation - i hated the long time jumps!
Never heard of childhood end though
I tried reading it. Got 100 pages in and had to give up. I have zero luck reading sci-fi. I think my brain just doesn't work that way. I could tell however that for a person who enjoys that genre it is probably considered the cream of the crop. The quality is evident even if it wasn't for me. Like a hair brush made out of solid gold, I can appreciate it but it does absolutely nothing for me.
Let's Rid3!!!!
Dune and Lord of the Rings were hard reads for me. I think I got through 4 Dune books but they get into too many intricate details and detours. You learn as much about the Freman in Dune as Paul does reading the passages about his studies, and in the LOTR books the Hobbits will sing about their goddamn breakfast for 4 pages.
I think they are worth reading once, but I consider them High Sci-Fi and Fantasy books when I prefer the pew-pew lightsaber type stuff. I think I did re-read the Dune books ahead of the movies and I enjoyed them more.
I think what Denis Villeneuve does well is distill the books down and make them easily digestible. He does deviate from them, but he doesn't ignore the main story points.
If you haven't seen Dune 2 yet, make sure you spend a little more, and see it on either the Imax or RPX screen. The visuals are outstanding, and the sound--wow. I saw the first one on the Imax, and Dune 2 on RPX. Just an awesome experience. I saw it for a matinee, and there was only two of us in a mini-arena! Anyway, Dune 2 was way better than the original, imo, and they concluded the story well. Highly recommend.

Dune 2 - ten out of ten
Chalomet really nails his role as a reluctant messiah, vengeful leaders and master politician - loved it
Oppenheimer - Did not expect there to be this many titties
Oppenheimer is one of my GOAT movies.
Those titties were bomb, fam.
Dune 2, somewhere between 9 and 10 out of 10.
After my son and I watched it, he said it was a 10 I said it was like at least an 8.5 but I didn't want to be so hasty.
He said 'what does a movie need to do besides that in order to be a 10?' it was a good point and I couldn't answer it to my satisfaction.
Dune 1 and 2 are to me what LOTR seems to be to everyone else. GOAT shit.
goat shit lol
