Would put it up there with Heathers and Donnie Darko.

I just had a minor epiphany about entertainment. About art. The effect and appreciation is directly proportionate to the palliative effect on the viewer's infinite loneliness resulting from existing in a reality defined by apartness and identity.

Right. Well...send me more like that, Val.
    Lol, love the review!.

I would say the enjoyment of art is directly related to that viewers state at the time, traversing a number of social and emotional issues. I think your critique is best explained but Jung..... We see the world not as it is, but as we are!

You are quite perceptive for a euro. What you write is the adjunct I left unspoken so I didn't make it burdensome on any who read it.

Southbound - 7.5/10, solid horror flick. I'm really enjoying the Shudder app.

gee eff why with your succinct ruminations that shame mine and your modest humility! If yours are clumsy mine are oafish!

Watching The Changeling now. Kind of slow, but the pacing is good.

What I meant is that it's often hard for me to parse my thoughts properly and completely, but you hit the one I left unsaid and it made me happy.

I think the first three hold up well and are classics....

The newest is plagued by the issues that Lucas has had since the prequels. An overabundance of CGI and a desire to turn everything into a silly kids movie with CGI gophers, and monkeys and Shia Labeouf swinging from vines in a tree....

Santa Sangre on prime instant. Surrealist horror film by the controversial Jodorowsky. It's like Psycho, but on acid and in a circus. Pretty entertaining. If you ever wanted to see people with down syndrome do coke.

The Straight Story. Rented this on Amazon. It's an interesting based-on-a-true-story thing about an older guy who is basically dying and decides to go see his estranged brother who he found out had a stroke. In order to do this, he goes on a road trip on his riding lawnmower through the midwest. Lots of great scenery, one of David Lynch's most normal efforts. It's a neat, low key movie about life, death, family, etc.

What I didn't know until afterwards is that the guy playing the main character - Richard Farnsworth - had prostate cancer and killed himself a year after the movie was released. Which makes his portrayal of this character quiet tragic.

Lucas has his issues but many of those story beats are all Spielberg. George did the overall story treatment but you can’t let Spielberg off the hook. Kind of sucks because Crystal Skull has some great moments, especially that first act.

    Why do you do this?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
