Watching Fargo. Haven't watched it quite some time. 10/10 a near perfect film with some of the best acting, cinematography, writing, directing and score that you'll ever see.

Marge Gunderson played flawlessly by Francis McDormand is one of my favorite characters of all time.

Currently watching The Last Jedi again on Showbox....what a cluster

But, I did watch Back to the Future last night. Man oh man was that movie done well. What has happened to movies nowdays? They just aren't as good as they used to be.

There are great movies still today, but damned if Back to the Future is almost perfect! One of the few movies I can watch from any point if it's on. So perfectly paced and fun.

All three seasons of the television series of Fargo have been great too!

I am not a good critic of movies or really anything for the matter.

I went to see I, Tonya on Sunday. Really good movie. I had no idea how effed up her childhood was. Her mom was a complete psychopath. Definitely made me think of that whole situation differently.

How well they did the visual effects didn't hit me until I realized there was no way Margot Robbie learned how to become an Olympian Ice Skater just for that movie. Pretty seamless work:

Back to the Future is the best movie of all time, so I forgive the overemphasized nostalgia.

This quote from Mildred (Frances McDormand) who plays the mother of a girl who was raped and murdered in a small town perfectly encapsulates the narrative and feel of this movie. The film starts with some light moments that rise above the somber tone, and then quickly spirals into an abyss of darkness that drags the viewer along for the ride and ultimately holds onto you as the final credits roll.

This movie has some dark comedic moments but it is not a dark comedy. It is first and foremost a drama about broken people and the choices they make to make their lives just a little better as they work with what they have. The aforementioned McDormand shines in her role as a mother who buys three billboards on a lonely stretch of road the calls out the police for not doing their job, and Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell provide excellent supporting roles and presence. There are even a few surprise performances scattered throughout, including a small but vital role by Peter Dinklage (Tyrion from Game of Thrones).

I had liked Martin McDonagh's previous films (In Bruges and the wonderfully dark Seven Psychopaths) but I never imagined he would be capable of a movie this good. The best film I have seen this year, even though it technically came out in late 2017. See it as soon as you can if you like great cinema, or consider yourself a film elitist like Buff.
It has been a while since I've seen a movie in a theater this good. Off kilter and almost weird tonally at times, but in a really good way. Early on a character is reading Flannery O'Conner's A Good Place is Hard to Find, and I think that's a good comparison. It's like a southern gothic novel had a baby with the Coen bros and Twin Peaks.

Trying to piece my thoughts together. It feels almost like a microcosm of all of us, and an examination of how deep down we all have stories and emotions and experiences that drive us. We're all just trying our best.

Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand are treasures.

The music is ******* great too.

We've never seen "Seven Pounds", with Will Smith, until now. Damn good movie.
