I must have missed something because I didn't see what was so special about Stand By Me. I thought I would love it but it didn't do anything for me.

Sometimes your taste in movies is good and other times I don't think you should ever be allowed to watch another movie again.

The Shining is one of my all time favorite books. I've read the unabridged version twice. I'm afraid to read it again because I don't want my memory of it tainted by my own age and experience. I will just let it occupy that special place in my mind as the book that I most loved during my teen years.

This is the only King book I've ever read. I remember being disappointed by the movie because it was such a departure from the book. Also because the female character is so hateable.

She was awful. I was actually hoping she'd die before the end of the movie.

Surprised The Dark Half hasn't gotten any love from you all. I thought it was terrific.

M. Night's new one called Split was pretty freaking good. I enjoyed it.

Dark Half was good. I watched Gerald's Game on the weekend, it was pretty good but friend's reviews made me expect more.

American Assassin- 8/10

not a M. Night fan... I think his movies are pretty ******* horrible.

I am slowly introducing my son to some creature feature movies from the 80's and 90's that I grew up with. This past weekend we watched two of them:

Critters - 7/10

Not as good as I remember but you have to appreciate a movie were a shape shifting bounty hunter takes on the persona of an 80's rock star to hunt evil porcupine-like aliens. Just a breezy film with a good sense of humor and some fun scenes.

Tremors - 8.5/10

I forget how great of a movie this is sometimes. The slow buildup and reveal of the "Graboids" in the sleepy town of perfection is great. They establish the rules of the creatures early on and seeing how Kevin Bacon and the highly underrated Fred Ward have to figure their way out of several situations where the creatures have them cornered is great. Throw in Michael Cross trading in his Family Ties dad persona for a right-wing gun lover along with his wife played by Reba McEntire and you have the perfect Sunday matinee horror comedy.
