Well that is a case in point why a review is an opinion and can't really be argued. That is why I never read reviews as recommendations unless I really think I have similar tastes in movies as someone. Even then (such is the case when seeing movies with friends) we can walk out of a movie with vastly different opinions of what we just saw. I think this is ESPECIALLY true with comedies.
When I saw This is the End I was at the Alamo Drafthouse and when the movie started I was already a few beers in. They were playing clips before the movie of funny youtube videos from the stars of the movie and I was ready to go. Contrast that with the first time I saw Tommy Boy. I went into that movie really tired because I was working until 10 that night and we saw an 11pm show. I don't think I did more than chuckle a few times and wasn't until I watched that movie later on DVD that I really enjoyed it. Like I don't think I could sit down and watch This Is The End by myself tonight after work and enjoy it nearly as much as I did in the theater.
That being said I am testing this theory tonight. We are going to see Machete Kills after drinking some margaritas and eating some Mexican Food downtown. Its all about the setup for terrible movies!

Saw this in the theater. Great movie.
captain phillips is outstanding. my type of flick though, action, suspense. and I like Tom Hanks in general as an actor. He's excellent here, like he was in saving private ryan, similar pragmatic thinking on his feet type of leader . the seals where great as was the chief female corpsman 9.3/10
You're high. lol
One of the best comedies in a long time. Some of the scenes were meant to be raunchy. Like the hole everyone was falling in or the light that fell and then went through the guys chest.
I will buy the DVD. RedBox used to sell DVDs and you could get sweet deals but they dont anymore.

Jules Winnfield - Pulp Fiction
The special effects were cool, the actors were great. I just wish there was a little more to the movie. The end wasnt that great to me for some reason. The big triangle eye scene was a let down, the whole thing blows up and never shows how tom cruise excapes. I still like the movie, just think it could have been even better. The plot could have been tweaked a bit. It was missing the wow factor...
Prometheus was better.

wait... He doesn't escape. The Tom Cruise that finds the girl (and her daughter) back at his lake side villa, is the clone that Tom fought when he just discovered that there was more than one. Thats how the "new" clone knew that she would be out there....somewhere...because he knew that was something "he" would do.
Although I was let down by the movie, I enjoyed it more the second time around (girl brought it back from Redbox the other night). Still not a 'great' movie by any means.

The only movies I've been to in the last 2 years have been IMAX movies at the Museum and a kids movie. Being a parent is awesome. I guess I'll review that one though:
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2; 5/10 - It was ok, but it tried WAY too hard for it's own good. There were a few good moments, but on the whole the comedy was too forced and the food monsters were borderline scary for small children. My by was alright, but he was definitely more afraid of than amused by the giant taco monster.
Geez, did I really just review this?
