Dredd needs to come out~!
Watched 'Battleship' last night.....at least the chic was hot.
My little girl, Hannah, is looking forward to 'Finding Nemo 3-D' and I find myself as well because it's one of my favorites as far as the kids' cartoons.
The Screen at Kamchanod- 8/10
This probably would of gotten a 9 out of 10 if not for the pointless confusion and twist at the end. With that said, very good ghost flick and not overly over the top in any way. Although since "The Ring" it has almost become cliche for america to remake asian horror flicks this is one i can say would be probably worthy of a remake as long as it was done well. Plot was interesting and the music score was pretty good as well as in certain moments reminded me a lot of Reznor's work with Nine Inch Nails.
Basically, you have a film that was screened 20 years ago and the participants either vanished or went insane. Thus, a doctor and 4 others begin researching what happened and try to hunt down the footage, etc. There are a few moments that make you a bit nervous and on edge and as i said, only towards the very end does it seem the director tried to throw in some last minute shocks or twists but i dont think they were really needed and hurt the film more than helped it. Either way, worth a look for those interested in those types of films. It is a foreign movie so it has subtitles so beware. Here is the trailer i found for it.
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
Battle Royale- 9/10
Ok, so i was a tad wrong when comparing Hunger Games to The Running Man initially when it came out. Although there are a few similiarities Hunger Games actually has far more in common with this film which was made in 2000. With some slight differences BR is a japanese flick that embarks on a premise that see's the modern era of school systems under attack by what they deem to be unruly and dangerous teenagers. But, rather than just use a selection of students the "lottery" in this case selects one entire class to be the representative in the BR. The BR was created as a new law but unlike HG's is not televised for the world but is still monitored by the class teacher and a group of military personnel.
The students are whisked away to a remote island and given 3 days to eliminate one another till there is only one left. Each is given a bag or two of supplies with a different type of weapon. Some may only get clubs while others are given guns, blades, etc. To ensure that the students dont try to leave the island they are given necklaces to which if they go into a wrong zone or leave the island it simply blows their head off. As with HG's some of the students ban together to form alliances, etc but the real differences in BR compared to HG's is the emotion for me. While HG's seemed a bit more over the top BR tends to bring in a more realistic human side where not every student is so eager to harm one another or ballsy enough to kill.
Some of the problems with BR are quite obvious and one of them being that the storytelling is a bit weak but a lot of this could be due to the type of budget involved. Also, its in subtitles so at times that can be annoying. But overall though, the things that make BR work for me is that they werent afraid to go as far with the violence as HG's was. But given that HG's was created for the tween generation its easy to see why that was done in the first place. Either way, very good flick and worth the time for any of those interested in such things.
The Hunger Games movie was made for those that read the book. You missed a TON if you didn't read the books, hence why they (imo) really lacked in the story of exactly what was going on. I felt Hunger Games did a horrendous job of telling the story. But I'm going to check out the Battle Royale!

The new Bourne (cant rmember the name) 8/10
I really enjoyed this movie. I really like the actor, and felt he did an excellent job. I'm actually really disappointed in Matt Damon for coming out and saying "the guy needs to do a better job acting" and that he didn't like the new movie. Grow up. Putting other actors down is classless and makes you look very small. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with Damon on that.

Total Rekkal 7/10
It was PACKED with action. Long movie that has a never stop motor to it.
What I'm disappointed in, is that the movie NEVER let you wonder if whats going on is a dream, or is it real? Whats the point of having it center around a "injected memory" if you can't wonder if the very thing we are seeing is all been implanted? The acting was great (where has Colin Ferrel been, he's been hiding somewhere I guess), and Kate Beckinsale is absolutely gorgeous once again.
I recommend this movie for the action...but the story line itself is pretty... no, VERY... disappointing.

I wasn't even aware Damon wasn't in the latest Bourne movie.

Final Days of Planet Earth 2/10
This movie absolutely takes the cake for horrible, B-movie horror/sci-fi. I mean it is brilliantly bad. Daryl Hannah as the queen Alien. Daryl Hannah! The punk kid from Shawshank Redemption! Except he's supposed to be this grown up archaeologist, but he still has that dick attitude, because he probably can't portray anything else. Praying Mantis' take over the world by hiding in our skin and taking over City Hall at San Francisco. Brilliant!
Watching Stake Land again. It's on SyFy right now. I'd give it a 9/10. It is easily one of the best horror movies of the last decade. Very underappreciated. It's a small budget movie but it's very well done. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.
Let's Rid3!!!!
Watched Return of the Jedi with my 6 year old last night. He loved it.
