I thnk the aim of the main guy was that he was really just a pencil pusher, given this job where he felt he had to be a 'tough guy'. He thought he was in for another easy day of work nd it all went prawn shaped!

We went and saw this when it came out in theaters...it's nice that my son works at the local theater and we get in for free...anyway I wasn't expecting much from this...didn't think it was something I would like and only went cause hubby wanted me to see it with him..lots better than I expected.

    I wanna see Sherlock Holmes.

Superb special effects (especially in 3-D). Plot wasnt too original but well done never the less. Great movie.

Totally agree with this. It's the same good vs. evil plot as there always was and will be. It was still awesome and worth the full price ticket.

    Broken Trail-- 9/10

I would never have watched this movie on my own, but my dad's really into Westerns and had it on his DVR. Really great movie. I guess it was originally a mini series--so it's 4 hours long. It reminded me how much I like Robert Duvall. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with him that I didn't like.

    Barabbas- 7/10

Decent flick filmed in 1961. Has cameo's from Ernest Borgine and Jack Palance.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - 5/10

I was much less than impressed with the adaptation but understand why the specific choices were made but it left large pieces unaccounted for. I had to explain too much of the significance of the actions the characters made because he didn't understand why they were important at all (he hadn't read the book). The best parts were the "teenage love" bits. Otherwise, I didn't care for it at all.

I agree with the intent of the character... But I still think it was miscast. I think he was too stereotypically, over-the-top "nerdy"--like something you'd see in a high school play--and kind of detracted from the credibility of an otherwise well made movie. Still a really good flick, but I think they could have and should have done a better job casting the main character.

That book was so HUGE! I liked it, mostly. They left out why it was called the "Half-Blood Prince." All it got was an honorable mention at the very end. No explanation of how or why. It's a good thing they're making the last book into two movies. Otherwise, it would be very much like Swiss cheese.

The main guy was a racist (alienist? xenophobe?) at the beginning of the film. Remember how he cold heartedly burned one of the alien egg nests at the beginning of the film? ***SPOILER***

By becoming one of them, he learned what he was doing was wrong. Its like in the old Twilight Zone movie where the racist guy leaves the bar and ends up in Nazi germany as a Jew etc. Its about the oppressor becoming the oppressed literally. For the record, I thought the guy did a great job who played him.

My friend couldn't figure out why following the book's suggestions was such a bad idea, or the significance of the spell used on Malfoy in the bathroom, etc. It lost a lot of the richness in the adaptation.

And I never was as fond of that book as some of the others. The last book was terrible. I hope the movies are better.
