I could see a bunch of costumes of Rorschach. He was a cool character...especially towards the end when his enemies were trying to get him (but that's all I'll give ya).

Still though...I get that it made an attempt to be more of a socially/morally relavent film...I just didn't think it did a very good job. Perhaps since Shake thought it was too short and I thought it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long, a 2 movie project would have been the way to go.

    Also..The soundtrack will be iINCREDIBLE!!!

I agree they should have cut some stuff out, but the Mars scenes should be extended. Manhattan had some of the better lines in the book during that time, and it really helps with the ending. The change in the ending is way better than the original IMO. I think they could have distilled it to 2 hours and made it more consumer friendly, but that would have upset the fanbase.

EDIT: Best line of the movie, "You all don't seem to understand...I'm not locked in here with you, YOU ARE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!". BTW, the friend who didn't like it has upped his approval rating after thinking on it for a day. It is now Ok, but not great.

    Watchmen - 7/10.

I can see both sides of it. It was both a pretty awesome movie, with some good development and dealing with some weighty moral and philosophical issues. On the other hand, if you look straight past it, you've got a long-ass movie that ultimately culminates with nothing to gain in terms of entertainment. It's one of those movies that I'm glad I saw, but I doubt I'll see again.

I wish there was more of Rorschach. He was such a kickass character... just kind of a snarling, mysterious, overly-cynical hero/not-hero/protector of the good ol' days. And the mercilessness of his tactics was super awesome. Then again, he always lamented in his little "journal entries" about how the world was awful because it was full of immorality and fornication and all that, then went off and kill 6 people. Just saying...

Also, I agree with Smilin, too much blue dong. The character itself (a semi-God) was pretty cool. I don't have any background with the series, but (besides the voice at times), some sort of semi-omniscient being is cool as a character and a philosopher.

And that's probably why I can't see it again. Too much philosophy. There were two quotes that got stuck in my head. One was by the Comedian in one of the flashbacks when he said "That's the problem with the American Dream. It comes true."... very impactful criticism of human nature, I guess. Then the other was that entire monologue by the blue dude talking about oxygen and gold, and then comparing that kind of miracle with the miracle of birth, and how one person, one soul, one completely different being, is created out of the infinite variables, out of "chaos", as he said it, I guess. Really introspective there... I like it, but it makes me focus elsewhere than the movie.

Though it was really important to develop the characters, I got really bored with it after maybe the third or fourth character development flashbacks in the first hour. We get it. All of the characters have interesting backgrounds. We don't need to see the same scenes of Silk Spectre yelling "God Dammit" like 5 times. Just recycled film.

And then the ending bothered me, though I guess it was another criticism of humanity or whatever (I'll try to be vague to avoid spoilers, though I've already done that to an extent, I suppose) in that it can't be changed.

Other than that, it had some good thematic elements (I liked the motif of watches and the whole alternate dimension thing) and pretty awesome action (the scenes of Rorschach's time in jail come to mind) to keep me mildly entertained in between the deep, dark, dialogue-driven plot.

    well said.

After rethinking, my view doesn't change. But I will add that the best part of the flick in my eyes was/were the opening credits. GREAT relevant music, images and newspaper headlines that develop the backstory in a way that is efficient, clear and thorough. That was very well done.

Not too mention the scene right beforehand. Best one of the movie.

Slumdog Millionaire - 7/10. It was a good movie, I enjoyed it, but it's not like I didn't know what was gonna happen. I liked the parts with the kids more than the parts with the adults. The youngest Jamal and the middle girl were outstanding. Well shot, well directed, well acted, just over-hyped. For what it was, it was well worth my time.

    Midnight Meat Train 9/10

    http://www.midnightmeattrainthemovie.com/

I probably have seen a couple hundred movies since posting on here. Last night I saw Midnight Meat Train. I felt very satisfied watching this flick from beggining to end. This is a clive Barker film. It isn't "haunting horror" but it is great slaughterfest.

Some of you will not like the CGI-gore in this but thought it was fantastic. Atmosphere is fantastic, directing is good, camera-work is good so there is no reason to miss this great story from Clive Barker.

While it would not get that high of a rating with acting and directing (Even though they did a good job!) Because of the gore in this movie and story line that keeps your eyes on the TV to the very end.

Certainly, this is a must-see for every horror-thriller fanatics

This is Ruyuhei Kitamura's first American film. Hopefully he stays with horror and keeps making films.

Releasing this movie off of Barker's short story tells me he is still the master.

Bradley Cooper turns in a great performance.

I can't say enough of Vinnie Jones performance without speaking words... You might remember him from Snatch and Gone in Sixty Seconds (When he didn't talk the entire movie and when he does he has a british accent and the guy says, I thoguht you were from long beach). Vinnie’s always been one to lay in the laughs in most of his roles. His stare alone is great.

It has been a while since I saw a good American Horror flick.

    Calvaire 8 /10

Night before last I saw a great Belgian horror film. This is a more darker, more extreme side. The greatest thing about this film is the artistic camera angles. This is not a gore type of horror film but more a twisited exploration flick. If you like hollywood type horror flicks, Don't watch this.

If you like dark horror and euro films, Elements of "Deliverance", "Southern Comfort", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" are all here, with very dark humour.

    Eden Lake (2008) 8 out of 10

This was a very good movie. It is a British Horror flick that was well done. Not a perfict movie but script and acting is done very well minus some plot build ups. The ending was fantastic! It is about those Chavs, (lawless delinquents) that are terrifyingly a couple going out to a lake to get away. Like all reviews I am not going to get into any details.

This movie is very realistic and highly believable. Even though it is not a origional plot... he makes it look fresh and non-predictable. The acting is truly superb with the standout performance by Kelly Reilly.

This is a great debut for Peter Watkins. As a horror film it works perfectly and it also has relevance to what is going on today with a PERFECT ending to his film.

The Haunting of Molly Hartley - Sucks, does not deserve a rating... might be good for 13 year old girls.

Quarantine 6/10 Because [Rec] has not been released in the US. It was good because love zombie flicks but by no means top notch. Heard [Rec] wipes the floor with this movie.

Diary of the Dead 6/10 Just like Quarantine, love zombie flicks and understand what Romero was trying to do. But this movie falls short in every ave.

    * If anyone likes foreign horror flicks Martyrs comes out in US at the end of next month and you can rent Let the right one in which got released yesterday! A must see for Vampire fans!

It has been a while since I saw this movie (Saw it when was released) and remember Bale being great in it. He broke the record for most weight loss to most increase for an actor with this movie and getting ready for his next). As much as I liked this movie Bale made this movie... Still like him better in American Psycho.
