Keeping with the music documentaries, checked out the Tina Turner one that premiered tonight. 8/10. Very thorough and sometimes a bit too meandering but it sticks the landing at the right moments. Felt like a living obituary at times, if that makes sense. Can’t believe she’s in her 80s!

There is no way that you guys are going to trick me into watching a BeeGees documentary.

    Good try. Well executed.

    I'm not falling for it.

I watched it months ago and it's great! The part that was revealing to me was how the "anti-disco" movement was really a politically driven thing... I remember my step dad being vehemently anti-disco, and it was interesting to see how that took hold. (Similar to my ah-ha moments watching The Reagans documentary on Showtime)...

Also didn't realize how many songs they wrote for other artists!

It's unavoidable. You must watch it.

Wonderfully paced and bittersweet documentary about The Bee Gees on HBO Max. This band always seemed to be on the periphery of my life since I was born the same year they really blew up but I had no idea their careers spanned all the way back to the 50’s. Covers lots of ground with old interviews and a new interview Barry Gibb that offers a heartbreaking perspective on their highs and lows. Can’t recommend this enough.
They're a top 5 all time band for me. And I'm with you, I scanned their catalog and was surprised to see they had hits waaaaay back then.

Watched Kill Bill again last night. I forgot what a terrific movie that is! I never quite understood the lust for Uma, but she is an absolute badass in that role.

The night before we watched Pitch Perfect. I'd only seen a few scenes of it before, but really enjoyed it. The singing is terrific. The only downside is I can't get this damn scene/song out of my mind:

    Mortal Kombat (2021): 6.5/10

Started strong, fell apart in the middle, then came back a bit at the end. It was a bunch of fighting sequences of varying coolness loosely held together by a thin plot and forced references. Much like the video game series itself!

I still think the first movie was the best and most true to the spirit of what made the games so fun.

Edit: anything with Sub Zero and Scorpion was great, and Kabal and Kano were fun in this movie. The new guy was so boring, but I’ll watch the sequel there was a decent foundation if they actually do the tournament storyline.

This time last year at the beginning of the pandemic, my two granddaughters absorbed in watching and identifying birds. No School, but a good education.

    Mortal Kombat.

8 out of 10. Really fun. Kano was awesome. They set up a nice slow burn for LK. Fights were good. Wish Goro didn't get smoked so easily. Like Sonya. Jax was awesome. The new Scorpion guy was a cutie.

I can't get enough of these dudes movies. Guilty pleasure I guess. Hilarious and the music is pretty impressive.

Not going to be everyone's cup of tea I imagine, too slow but I loved Nomadland. I don't often re-watch Movies, but on my 2nd viewing. Frances Mcdormand stellar. 9/10

I also watched Nomadland last night. Really good flick, definitely would recommend -- maybe a tad slow and depressing at times. Reminded me a bit of "Manchester by the Sea" in that regard -- it's kind of a gray slog of a movie emotionally. But it has some really profound stuff in it. Life is a journey. The people you encounter are all on one.
