Worth watching, but nothing really new about this movie.

Taken - 7/10
This movie would be a 10 in the "what I expected vs. what actually happened" rating, because it was way better than I thought it would be.
Liam What'shisface was super badass in his role as an ex-spy dude. All of the fight scenes (there were plenty) were really down to Earth, with a few well placed punches and some gun shots getting people down. Nothing super-heroic, just real smart fighting. Hitting the pressure points every time.
The story overall flowed very well, which was the most surprising part of it. It wasn't just this guy coincidentally surviving a series of events leading to saving his daughter. Every action looked well planned and strategized to how he was going to save her, like he knew how badass he was and took advantage of it.
There was too much camera shaking on the car-chase scenes (very weak Bourne series attempts, IMO) for my liking, and the girl who gets "taken" is really annoying because she acts like a 12 year old the whole time, but there really weren't any huge issues in the plot; these were pretty minor intricacies to the overall story.
Basically, it's like a supersized episode of 24, except without the really annoying Jack Bauer-isms and stupid fandom surrounding it. I hate 24, but I loved this movie. Worth the ticket.
Took the kids to see "Bedtime Stories", great movie! Rob Schneider seems to be in all the Adam Sandler movies! 9/10!!
Swordfish...6/10...and that is with extra credit for Berry's tatas. Entertaining enough, but bad story. bad acting. eh
Watched both Willie Wonka (1971) and Charlie (2005) and the Chocolate Factory today.
I give both about a 8/10. Charlie had a better story and wasn't a musical, but I thought the message was misguided as 2 of the hated kids actually showed they work hard (Violet w/ karete ad Mike TV w/ science). Depp was awesme as usual. Wonka was a bit creepier and the message carried over well w/ the kids being gluttons, brats, etc. Wilder was genius as usual as well.
Golden Compass..8/10.
I'm not a big fantsy film guy, but this one was pretty cool. Great setup for a sequel if the box office numbers warrant it.
Monster House...7/10...yes, I watched a shitload of movies today.
Decent kid flick. My daughters liked it.
Revolutionary Road 7/10
Good acting, depressing story.
Taken 4/10
It was hilarious. Unintentionally, I think. The guy who got hit by the truck/van made me cry in laughter...then the fact that the girls wanted to follow U2 or whatever. Then the guy being "tortured" had so many different accents when he was screaming near the end of that scene. And the complete randomness of him shooting that one guy's wife was great.
Tried too hard, was like watching a wannabe James Bond movie. But it was funny, i'll give it that.
