Good move by Artest. He now gets the whole "chemistry ruining player" problem going. He then has a no trade close because of his contract. This means he gets to pick where he goes.
Even if he only gets the MLE, the MLE goes by % of the leagues revenue which will be up. Meaning he gets paid more.
Artest gets a chance to choose his team and his price range because he put himself in the driver seat with all the controls at his hands (more likely his agent's plan considering Ron doesn't strike me as bright). If this plan fails, oh well, because his back-up is still worth more money than opting out this year.
He'll be a hot commodity come February. I just hope that the Nuggets aren't one of the teams interested.
Artest probably should have opted out, But i assume he was thinking with the market and how so many teams dont have the cash to sign players to huge deals..He would not have got his money by optin out. WHich made sense at the time.
