Whether you buy one Mega Millions ticket, or 100 or 1,000, your odds of winning are still the same. About 1 in 292 million.

    3 in 292 million isn’t better than 1 in 292 million?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

True. You are making your odds better, your overall odds get better with each ticket with a different number combination, but your relative odds remain pretty poor.

0.0000003422% chance of winning per ticket purchased.

    0.0000000103% for 3.

But 1,000 tickets (as WTE proposed) would increase your odds to .0003422%, or 1/292,000 right? That's a pretty significant difference. Still terrible odds, but significant.

Is it really significant if you go from almost no chance of winning to dramatically going up statistically but still staying in that same realm?

If you win one football game one season and then you 'double' it and win two, does that do the trick?

    I'm not arguing. I'm just...I exist.

WTE said the odds "are still the same, 1 in 292,000,0000". That's demonstrably false.

Do you have any thoughts on the liberation movement?

Not it's not. Anybody who buys 1,000 Mega Millions tickets is foolish. Now, if you buy one ticket you have 1 chance of winning and if you buy 1,000 you have 1,000 chances of winning but your odds are still about 1 in 292 million.

I bought five even though I very rarely buy any. We are both giving our money to the eventual winner.
