The highest and lowest points of elevation in the lower 48 states are located in the same county in California.

Mount Whitney is the highest summit in the contiguous United States with an elevation of 14,505 feet (4,421 m).[1] It is on the boundary between California's Inyo and Tulare counties, 84.6 miles (136.2 km) west-northwest of the lowest point in North America at Badwater in Death Valley National Park at 282 ft (86 m) below sea level, in Inyo county.

A snail's "antennae" are really his eyes attached to the end of those long stalks.

I never called those things antennas sneaks, I always knew they were eyes ever since I was a little kid.

That's a lousy random fact. In fact, it sucks!

Who could have anticipated all the backlash to the random facts thread? It's becoming quite the hotbed for controversy around here.

Sneaks knew what he was signing up for when he started this thread.

Frankly, he has been mailing it for some time. As a family of Bronco fans, we deserve better.

OK that's a good point. But I believe it was Dread who challenged turtles actually breathed out of their butts and felt it was some other physiological process.

Can Dread confirm he challenged this random fact about turtles?

it seems that I did hear that this was indeed a fact, probably through my course of study, but I spose it's possible I may have had a dream about something like that at one time. In any event, maybe some of the vernacular could be challenged, and if a modification is in order, I think we should chalk it up as a layman's oversight. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt

Speaking of dreams, db posted one in the lounge that we'd like you to analyze.
