This is the message i recieved. So you all allow *friends* to make gay jokes because they like each other? So that is assuming i dislike people on the internet? Then look at the end of the message? Does it seem like this guy is having a bad day and taking it out on me or what? I dont have any issues with anybody here. I try to make jokes out of everything. So why is this happening to me?

It isnt a double standard, but an understanding of relationships. It was tense here for awhile, cause One board closed, everyone came here, and it took a while for everyone to feel each other out.

Like 5 months ago, I would have gotten in trouble for calling Dream a homo, but today it is accepted as the truth.

Not a double standard at all. IMHO. Its relationships, virtual ones, but they are still there.

Things are pretty loose here and each situation is looked at individually - its not too hard for our mods to figure out if someone is joking with a friend or if someone is being derogatory

First of all, if someone did report you, no one outside the Mods knows who
did, and the Mods will never tell who did. However, just because you got a
warning PM does not mean you were reported by anyone. We are lurking all
the time, and if we see something we deal with it.

The principle here is that, when you are new, you circulate and just kind of
mind your Ps & Qs for a while until people get to know you and get used to
you. This goes for anywhere, not just here. What is a joke and good times
between two people who know and like each other is not necessarily so
with someone who is new and they don't know.

I made the same faux pas as you over on another board a couple years
ago or so. Since I was known, established, and respected on yet another
board, I thought I could come onto the one in question with both guns
blazing, as if I were one of the crowd. Well, I wasn't one of the crowd yet,
and they were very quick to let me know that, and some were not very
nice about it.

You got a better reaction here than I did there, I'll tell you that.

A Mod's duty is simple and can be conveyed in three words: Keep The
Peace. When we step in, it is in that interest in which we do it. Do we
make mistakes in the process? Damn straight. Basketball players miss shots,
quarterbacks overthrow receivers, refs make bad calls, and Mods drop the
ball, too.

That is why you have an avenue of appeal to Tned. This is not the place
to do it, actually. What you need to do is to forward the PM warning you
got from the Mod in question to Tned with your explanation, and Tned will
review it and come back with a determination. And he doesn't stick up for
the Mods in such a case. He wants posters here to be fairly treated.
Period. If he feels the Mod is right, he will tell you, and he will tell you why.
But if he thinks the Mod overreacted or overmoderated, he will let you
know that, too, then he will deal with the Mod . . . trust me, he will.

The secret is to take nothing personal because none of the Mods here
mean anything personal. All we are doing is to advise the poster where he
or she is taking the risk of upseting the board somehow. Nearly every one
of the active members here have received one or more of such messages.

Get to know people first. Blend in. Let them get to know you. Then throw
out a friendly jab here and there. Take it from someone who has been
there, done that.

And, even after that, if we send you a warning message, and you were
only kidding, just tell us that. We may advise you to enter a qualifying post
or send a PM or something. We are here to help if we can. But don't come
back as if you think we are personally attacking you because we aren't,
and that is not going to benefit anyone.

I really did not read any of that, But thank you anyway. I told the mod that it was over and done with. I have taking my share of shots and laughed it off. Just didnt appreciate how i was slammed with a double standard. But all is well im cool. No big deal other than people sending me PMs with doo doo.

I dont want doo doo pictures in my messages. Can i stop that? Thats the only thing. Its disgusting.

If you did not read that, then that is your problem. But maybe it will help
some of the others who do give me enough credibility to read what I post.

Meanwhile, this may be why you may continue to have problems on this
board. People who don't listen usually do have a lot of problems.
