Da pump is why I lift.
Tuesday I decided to reset my Deadlifts, and then go ahead and set a PR for reps at 345# for 8.
I got mind control while I'm here
You goin' hate me when I'm gone
Ain't no blood clot and no fear
I got hope inside of my bones
I know the rest of my workout life will contain stumbling blocks, but the turning points that follow are golden. The hunger and fire in my comfort zone of Studio B will always be sky high, but I had all but stopped my pursuit of a dream instructing job. Wakeup call came yesterday in a series of texts thanking me for inspiring a relative. How @#$%^&* inspiring have I been if I hit the pause button on pursuit of my dream class?
Back to square one. Focused and dedicated.... feels good to be back.
Until that goal comes to fruition, I am certainly encouraged by the fact I have been given a second freestyle class. A beginner's class had been discussed, but our Group Fitness Coordinator felt my core group of students would be happier with me leading a 30 minute long advanced class than something for beginners. I'm sure the class time will increase. My 60 minute freestyle class on Fridays was originally 45 minutes. My students are great about raising the bar with me.
Kicking it. Weighted dips and weighted pullups. I freakin love that stuff. Chain it on.
Got my phone call yesterday. Did not go as planned..... lots of stumbling blocks in the 16 months since I went to Group Centergy training, but I got my dream class, starting July 3rd.
It is yoga + pilates put to music. I will always have a monumental struggle with form. I will never be flexible. I will damned sure never be graceful.
Good news, though : heart + determination + practicing every day overpower everything else. Those stumbling blocks make the payoff all the sweeter.
So it has been a while (2 years) since my last post so I wanted to swing by and see how everyone was doing. It's good to see some familiar faces still working out. An update about my progress...in my last post I hit a deadlift PR of 375#. About two months ago I hit 460#. Last weekend I was involved in a team Crossfit competition and did 3 touch and go reps at 465#. I was ecstatic!! I am 39, 5'10", 190
My return to this board wouldn't be complete without posting here.
My diet continues to be my Achilles heel, but as soon as things calm down I'll be more strict counting macros. Here's what I'm proud of currently:
I got mind control while I'm here
You goin' hate me when I'm gone
Ain't no blood clot and no fear
I got hope inside of my bones
