Thread: Why / How Did You Choose Your Username?

Got the nickname 'Lord Erik' for playing the Dark Side on the Star Wars CCG in High School. I had a whole backstory for a character of the same name that I never got around to writing down. Would've been very similar to the story in here I believe.


Several years later, I came up with Erik Trychon as a possible pen name (my last name's boring) if I were ever to decide to write something that anyone else would maybe find worthwhile.


I eventually combined the two into a cooler name.


Although, ironically... I googled Erik Trychon once. Guy's a fighter pilot for Miramar.

The name and number always seemed to end up on my back no matter what sport I played, so I ran with it.

Band name..

My name on the other boards was Broncogirl47...then I realized it was pretty boring. So I made a thread asking for suggestions for a new user name. Snapping Turtle was the suggestion that won in a poll. And now...its become my name on almost everything. I love it.

Dreadnought comes from my other obsession after the Broncos - the history of British Royal Navy. HMS Dreadnought was one of the most famous ships in History, and besides I just like the name.

I had always likes the Wizard of Id in the Denver Post I have not seen it anywhere else..

I also worked as a computer specialist at AVIS whose computers name was Wizard of Avis..

Since I'm a lousy typist JRWIZ it is..

Ive always liked the name and love Egyptian history and mythology.

When I was creating accounts (gaming, email, forums, etc.) I got sick of getting "That username is in use, please choose another", so I decided to come up with something where I would never see that message again and wouldn't wind up having to try and remember/figure out "hmmm, what username did I use on this site", so I came up with the full name I have used on FPS shooters, forums and stuff.

Tnedator (Tned or T-ned) in the shortened version.

When I use to be on some teams playing Novalogic first person shooters (Delta Force, Joint Ops, Black Hawk Down), when we had the VoiP going (or in chat windows) to coordinate, we would always shorten names to quicken the messages up, so they used to just call me, T.
