I know you are not keen on using mods but I thought I would throw another out for you just to let you know about it.

It is called vbarticles. I see you are letting people write articles for the forums and this mod is perfect for just that.

You can see a small example of it at my old site http://armchaircoach.net/forums/vbarticles.php That is the free version, the paid has more features to it.
