Default WR Demaryius Thomas Surprised by Selection

    http://den.scout.com/2/964851.html
Former Georgia Tech WR Demaryius Thomas was surprised to find the Broncos had an interest in him. Check out his first meeting with the Denver media.

On His Workout Last Week and the Broncos’ Interest in Him
“I don’t think that they were there (at the workout). I didn’t think that they had any interest in me until Monday when I met with the head coach and the G.M. Basically, that was it.”

On Playing with QB Tim Tebow
“Tim Tebow is a good guy and is a good player, also. I’ll be looking forward to that when I come to Denver.”

On His Foot Injury Before the NFL Combine
“It was very emotional. I was actually going through drills getting ready for the Combine, I was going like 65 percent. I landed on my foot and it just popped. I got surgery about three days later, started doing rehab two weeks later and I’m like 90 percent now and feeling very well.”

    On His Character
“Basically, when I was coming up, my mother and my grandmother got put in prison and I always told myself that I didn’t want to get into a position to get myself into no trouble. So, I’ve always been around the right crowd... Once I did that, everything changed in my life. I always wanted to be around the right crowd and didn’t want to get in no trouble. I didn’t want to be that guy that is always talked about that he’s a bad guy and so, I just put myself around the right crowd.”

On How He Fits with the Broncos
“I think that I’ll fit well... I’m a playmaker. I make plays and I know how to run routes...”

On Being Compared to WR Brandon Marshall
“We’re both big guys, probably the same speed, very complete receivers. I think that he has a little more experience than I have. I’m looking to come in and borrow stuff from the guys that are already there so I can be a specialist like Brandon Marshall was on offense.”

On His Experience at the Draft
“It was fun here. When I was invited, I was shocked. Because I figured there were a lot of stars here... When I broke my foot, everything just changed and I was basically scared, but I was like, ‘I’ll come down.’ Because my mom’s in prison and

    I'm sure he was surprised.

Along with 99% of everyone involved in the NFL.

This is the worst first day draft I can ever remember.

can't be as bad as marcus nash in 1998.

relax silk, i think you will end up liking thomas. i have seen no reports of any off field or diva problems. if he is anything near marshalls potential then this move gets us out of 45 mill and continues the youth movement.

and you know i'm not a mcdaniels fan but...he did do a good job of manipulating the draft a bit today.

I actually don't mind Thomas. There are a lot of things to liek about him, even though he has a lot of work. I;m not real sure why McDipShit overlooked Bryant, but I can deal with it.

It's the other garbage 1st round pick that Denver traded up to get that makes me sick.

What about the white wide reciever out of florida we drafted one year....wasn't his name mcgriff or something....he was another stellar Broncos WR selection.

yeah well i was shocked he passed on dez too but if your going to trade away a wr with issues why pick up another one? regardless dez will make a splash in the nfl and was the safe pick ON the field. thomas could have the most upside of the two though. i was happy either way.

mcdoogie is a head scratcher for sure. but like buff said, "one more effing year dude."

helloooo, george foster and terry pierce????
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I'm trying not to be negative and hate on these selections but basically it reminded me of last season. We kept trading back and getting a surplus of picks (amazing! we're 6-0!) and then we completely fell apart and threw picks away to get tebow (losing streak). Just like getting stomped on by the faders and queefs my stomach now hurts awfully. Demaryious is an excellent pick but I can't say the same about Tebow, he would have been around in the 3rd round for sure.

Props. Thank god for Demarious Thomas to save face, even though missing Dez Bryant was absurd.

I think some of the portions of the interview here were pulled from here. Unfortunately the interview is cut off because we're watching it from a raiders camera crew but here is what is there...

Temp sig till I find another one

the bills were reportedly putting together a deal to get him at pick 25 with baltimore. we had no choice.

look at it this way. we still have a early 2nd and two 3rds. we didnt have all of those picks at 8am this morning anyway yet dont have to pay anyone a huge contract at 11 and still covered two areas of need.
