Shocking! Natural causes? (Sterroids?) On the eve of his triumph, he dies. Sad.

There was a QB that played for Nebraska in the mid 90s that a lot of teams liked that died in a plane crash the day before the draft. Brook Berringer. That guy could run and throw.

Its always a little bizarre when this happens though. I remember when Len Bias died. Its weird. Even though it doesnt happen THAT often, its still weird that it happens as often.

I just saw this on rival.com. Pretty sad story. It sounds like he had a lot of awards after the last season and was a pretty good prospect.

Updating a previous report, Josh Buchanan, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports Newberry OL Heath Benedict died of natural causes Wednesday, March 26. Benedict was 24 years old. Newberry College community will hold memorial services for him Tuesday, April 1.

I interested to know how you die of natural causes at 24 years old... doesn't sound natural to die at 24 to me.

It means it was not trauma, accident, etc. Like he didnt die from a gunshot wound, car wreck, overdose etc.

NFL | Benedict's cause of death determined
    Fri, 11 Apr 2008 12:54:27 -0700

John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports Newberry OL Heath Benedict's cause of death was sudden Cardia Disrhythmia, according to a Jacksonville, Fla. coroner. Benedict also suffered from Dilated Cardiomyopathy. The final Toxicology exam showed that no significant drugs or substances were found in his body, except caffeine, which the coroner said indicated he probably had either a cup of coffee or coca cola shortly before his death.
