Default Who is the Best Hockey Coach of All time

Who is the Best Hockey Coach of All Time?

I voted for Scotty Bowman as he is the winningest of all time
and has won 9 Stanley Cups as a Coach

    5 with MTL (1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979)
    1 with Pitt (1992)
    3 with Det (1997, 1998, 2002)

Also to me he coached the best modern team of all time
the 1976-1977 Canadiens were 60 wins 8 losses and 12 ties.

Sick sick team. 387 goals for and 171 goals against.

77-78 not bad either 59 wins 10 losses and 11 ties. 359 goals and 183 goals against.

Imagine winning 119 games losing 18 and 23 ties over 2 seasons. talk about pure dominance.

75-76 they were 58 wins 11 losses and 11 times

so over 3 years 177 wins 29 losses and 34 ties and this is not including their 15 wins at least
per year to win the Cup

to a great dynasty in hockey

It was a toss up between Toe Blake and Scotty Bowman.

But I like Toe's name better so I vote for him.

EDIT: I think I remember Scotty B now.
He was that guy with the Redwings.
I dont think I liked him very much so I wont vote for him.

I havn't heard of him in ages it seems

Jay is the BEST of all time not your favorite

but Toe is great for winning 8 Cups in 13 seasons as a coach.

The coach I HATE the most is the Crybaby coach

Al Arbour of the NY 'Long' Islanders without a doubt.

he is up there but I still like Bowman a bit better

what is ironic is the only team to fire both Bowman and Arbour

you guessed in the St Louis Blues and their moronic owner Sid Solomon III

in the early 70s before both went on to their HOF careers.

as much as it kills me to say it, and as much as i hate him.

I got to go with Scotty B. He was a great coach, and had the wings as a dynasty for how long...That was a long time the wings were on top. He did many terrific things in hockey not just with the wings, so i say him.

But all the avalanche in me still does not like him.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I'm sure Bowman is the better candidate. I don't watch hockey anymore. I stopped watching it a decade or so ago during one of the stretches when national coverage was minimal and I couldn't get the Islanders anymore, and then I just never got back into watching it. Prior to that, I used to watch all the Islander games on my old C Band (BIG) satelite dish.

The last year I lived on Long Island was the first year of the SC dynasty, and I used to travel up to St. Louis when the Islanders were in town, but as I said, I stopped watching hockey probably about a decade ago.

well you need to start watching again. JK Tned

you might like it if you follow some of the good teams like Pitt, Mtl, Det (sorry Avs fans) etc ( I would pump my Canes but they are dinged up big time )

It is a great sport and for some memories of that great team

OK I voted for Bowman, but he is a complete and total Jerk. This isn't even about the Avs, he's just a grade A jerk.

Tned I know you have a lot going on, but you really show come back to hockey. I love football, but hockey is just an awesome sport and it carries you through the off season. Plus the playoffs are coming. Right now in the West there are only 2 teams that can't get in with a week left, talk about excitement.

    Dear Med,

    Scotty Bowman is a douche.

Herb Brooks, actually, I consider it (Olympics) the greatest coaching job of "all" time.

He didn't just coach a team, he defined a nation.
