Default Kirk Morrison Tendered at a 3rd

This is a guy I would love to get. Great instincts, just turned 28 years old, and can play MLB in a 3-4 scheme. He's a Martindale product, so I guess there would be no doubts about his work ethic, character, skills and leadership. Andre Davis was a quality starter for us last season, but wore down as the year went on. Morrison is a known product. As valuable as a 3rd rounder is, it's nowhere near a guaranteed starter. Morrison is. He can be a quality starter for the next 4-8 years and stay on the field all 3 downs. I've been an advocate of bringing in Dansby, but Morrison is a cheaper alternative.

I am right there with you. The Raiders have a really good linebacker unit. Morrison is their best with Thomas Howard a close second. At a mere 3rd rounder, you would have to at least consider it. As you said, he is a Martindale product and he could be highly credited for Morrison's development. You make all valid points and I totally echo with what you're saying as a 3rd rounder is not a guaranteed starter. Denver is a perfect place for Morrison. Plus, he is one of the quicker, faster linebackers in the league who can play great coverage and is good at stopping the run. Do it Coach and X!

3rd rounder and guarantee his salary if he plays 6 games in the state of California in a season so that the Raiders can't match.

I don't think Al Davis will try to match an offer, unless it's just to spite the Broncos. He tendered the other LB at a 2nd. I think that's the one he wants to keep.

I'd take Morrison in a heartbeat.

I still think we should poison pill a long term deal with him in case Al Davis decides to spite us. It's going to take a long term deal to grab Morrison, so why not guarantee his entire salary if he plays 6 games in California? It would stop the Chargers or 49ers from grabbing him as well I think.

Yeah, i would really like this move.
I also think its a huge mistake to let a guy lke him go for a 3rd.
It would just be so sweet to watch him excel in DEN against his old team.
This also would allow DEN to not have to really look at LB in the draft.

Yoo cheesy and predictable of a poison pill. Gotta find something a little trickier.
