...I recall a certain NFL team in Colorado trading the bank for a potential franchise QB and that turned out okay if I remember right.

Only question for me (thus my post) is Bradford's health...

There's obvious risk in any choice / player, just seems more(?) in his case...

    Again, JMO...
Me too. I have been sayin it all along, that if Braford was healthy he was a player to be targeted, but if he is throwin ducks.......

I could definitely see STL taking a QB #1, but I figured they would go for an OT or Clausen, not bradford with their #1 overall. Oh well.
if they waste the #1 on him, they should all be banned from working with any team in the future...

If they want him, they should trade down and get another pick or two...

Its not that easy to trade down though. Everyone says this but no one wants the #1 overall. Every year we hear teams trying to trade out of it and never hear anyone trying to get up to it.

They cant trade down. Tampa, was, and whoever else is at 1,2,3,4 dont need to trade up to get their guy. And if the rams really want him, they will not let Washington pick in front of them, on the chance that they could take bradford.

He is worth the #1 overall.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

No one wants the #1 pick. The top 3 players are two DT's and a safety. No one wants to reach and take a WR or OT with the number 1 pick and no one wants to pay a DT or a safety 10-12 million a year.

Rams will be stuck with the pick and if they like Bradford, he'll go #1.

i wonder what the redskins will do if both claussen and bradford are off the board by the time they pick. rams could go qb with the first pick and another team could easily trade up above the redskins to snag claussen. then that might possibly leave the two top rated dt's in the draft to fall right in their lap. and to think of all the money they paid haynesworth....haha.

shanny & snyder would be pissed if that happened.

I think thats an easy choice.. they go Left Tackle. That might be their pick anyway.

I agree. If shanny does not trade campbell, he will go OT...I would pass up any QB in this draft for a solid OT, if I had campbell. Not that Cambell is sooo superior, but he has potential and a ROCk like Clady is harder to find than a QB IMO.

I can't blame the Rams for taking a QB over a DT with the #1 overall pick. It makes more sense. If you franchise a DT righ tnow, its paying him 7 million. Take him 1st overall, you pay him 12 million. Doesn't make sense to take a DT with the first over-all, not at paying that kind of cash out.

Plus.... a DT will not make a big impact on a team that is already bad. He would make a BIG impact on a good team. But how much impact can a DT make for your team with you are only winning 2-3 games a season? They could take Suh, and still onlly win 3 games next year. For that kind of money, they absolutely need to make a pick for an impact player.... and QB is that position (hopes the Broncos hear).

Detroit is in the same boat at #2. They paid #1 money last year to a QB. They won't go for another QB, and they don't want to give 11 million to a DT. So they will try to trade down... or.. they might take a Left Tackle (because LTs make that kind of money).

This is why teams can not always go for BPA in the draft. Not only does it not fit your team needs (meaning we wouldn't draft another RB even if he was the BPA), but it may not fit financially.

I think they take a QB if one is available....I 'think.' I just don't think anyone is very comfortable going with Campbell as their starter. He's not very good.

I will disagree that its easier to find a QB than it is a LT, however. Plus, you don't know if the top LT is going to be a Clady. There was OL rated higher than he in the '08 draft. So you just never know.

I see your point. But I honestly believe you stand a better chance of filling the OL with 3rd, 4th round picks, than you do at QB (in general, not necessarily all drafts).

    yeah, I think you're right.

The way I see it, this season has no CBA, if they're not following those "rules" why follow the money scale for drafted players? Don't pay these guys that dont deserve anything yet

Just to add to a few previous posts...

    - Shanny needs to draft a tackle regardless of a QB being available.

    - Look at the money the Skins payed Haynesworth and then they went from a playoff team to a 4 win team. Proof that even the best DT in the world isnt going to win games for you. It's be crazy to take one with the top pick.

    - When you take a DT or safety with the op pick, you're paying him 10-12 mil. That's an insane number for those positions. But look at ti further. Suppose they play well and get to a 2nd contract. You think they will take a pay cut? No...they want a raise. Now you're paying a DT or safety 12-15. Even Ed Reed isnt worth that much. So if these teams draft them and the kids play well...they wont be with the team after the first contract because they wont be affordable. Just doent make sense to me to rent a young talent for 4 or 5 years

    Default Schefter just kidding!?!?!

Did anyone here this. Apparantley Scheffter, was just kidding about what he said. And actually has not heard anything nor does he have any clue what the Rams are going to do with the #1 overall....

Someone posted that, but never backed it up. Did anyone else see this or hear this???

    Man I hope so.

I would love nothing more than too see bradford fall to us. He is my #1 by a looooooong shot for us. No one in this draft would I like to see the broncos take more. 50-3 baby. 50 tds 3 ints. That would be sexy with marshall, royal and moreno.

Ok- pipe dream off. I still think the rams go QB. Although if they could I bet they would want to trade back and get an OT.

In other words, Schefter jumped the gun with bad info and is playing it off as a joke!
