    Default Mcclain, Bryant, Williams

Just to kill some time before The draft in April or the start of FA in March, I thought Id see your opinions on this subject. Who is the best FOOTBALL PLAYER: Rolondo Mcclain, Dez Bryant or Dan Williams?

Popular consensus, as of today, is that in April, at least one of these players will be a Bronco, courtesy of our pick at 10/11. Now I know that there are a lot of strong feelings concerning Brandon Marshall, the quality of the QB situation in Denver, our Dline, and other things but thats not what I want to discuss.

I dont care WHO you think we should pick with our first pick or if we should trade up/down. There are countless threads on here discussing those topics. My question to you is: In 5 years, which one of these players will be the best football player REGARDLESS OF POSITION and why? For example, in reference to the 2004 draft, Larry Fitzgerald is a better WR than Robert Gallery (picked before Fitz) is an Olineman..... Raiders suck.

I honesty belive that the answer to this question will be the player we draft in April, assuming Mcdaniels aggrees. In 2009 we saw that he was not afraid to "reach" for players that he thought had the most talent. (Knowshon Moreno and Alphonso Smith). We also saw that Mcdaniels cares more about who he thinks is the best player available than filling any positional needs. (Notice the lack of quality Dlinemen we brought in last year). And I believe we will continue to bring in talent, regardless of position, but the question remains. Who has the most talent?

So, with that I will open it up to you. Best of the 3 and why?

which of them is the best football player, or which will be the best in five years? those are two separate questions IMO. . . i think mcclain is probably the best football player of them right now-- which will be the best in five years is obviously 100% speculation, but at least in terms of which of them has the chance to be the best in five years, or which will be the best if they all fullfill their potential, i'd probably say dez bryant. . .

all three have a chance to be very good, but i think he can be the most complete player of the three, with the chance for the most gamechanging ability. . . mcclain doesn't necessarily project as the kind of LB who has elite range in coverage or any particularly special pass rush skills, and williams certainly doesn't project as much of a pass rusher either. . . which is fine, they should both be good at what they're expected to do, but i think bryant OTOH has a chance to be a legit number one receiver-- even if he lacks blazer speed, his frame and leaping ability should still make him a big play threat. . .

it's all subjective anyway, and trying to compare the value of different positions makes it even more so. . . i wouldn't be unhappy with any of the three on draft day, although i do think williams has seen his value inflated by the number of teams in need of a young nose tackle and the relative lack of quality options available there. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I think the best 'football player' is McClain. Why? I think he's the smarter player of the three. All three are very good players who are athletically gifted for their positions. But Rolando's intelligence seperates him from the others IMO.

McCLain is not only the best football player of the 3 right now, but one of the safest picks in the entire draft. Bryant has the most potential to be the biggest game changer in 5 years.

If we pick odrick with our first pick youll find me in my living room screaming at the television. If we pick anybody else on this list with our first youll find me in my living room sipping on a bottle of bleach while listening to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.... Thats how I feel about that.

Haden would actually be a very good pick. And I don't think you should underestimate what a talent like Spiller can do for an offense. He's basically Reggie Bush 2.0. Not that prototype RB ya want, but he can do it all...take handoffs, split wide, return punts/kicks. He's gonna be special and we are limited in our overall talent at the moment.

Haden probably won't be abailable when we pick but even if he is I'd still be bitter if we took him. Granted, he is a good player and our CB's are like a million years old but they are still somewhat productive. our run D, however is not and I don't think the best player available argument supports picking Haden over Mcclain. they are both very good players. the latter is simply much more needed.

As for spiller..... Please, please, please NO! We drafted Knowshon too early last year. let's give him a chance to live up to the 12th overall selection. I know we could use em both at once like the saints do but I honestly believe Knowshon has what it takes to be a superstar in this league given some time. Plus we have needs at like every position on the field other than HB. Why spend our best pick on a player who is only gonna be on the field for 50-75 percent of the snaps. Agreed, our team lacks real talent. Let's find some and keep it on the field as much as possible.

McLain is the safest pick right now, but I think he is very close to his ceiling. I just dont see him getting much better than he already is.

Williams, as stated before, is overrated due to everyone switching to the 3-4 and needing a NT. He's a very good 2-gap DT...but I dont know what to expect from him at NT.

Bryant, like any WR, could be a huge bust. But I think his skillset and potential are higher than the other two. if a team needed all three positions and could only sign ONE of the three...I would advise Bryant, then Williams, then McLain

Bradford. Oops, I mean Williams. Right now, even if Marshall is traded away, I just don't think we need to spend a first round pick on an ILB with DJ and Andra doing okay back there or on a WR when we have Royal, Stokely, Gaffney, McKinley, and possibly someone else in FA that could be included in the Marshall trade (if he's traded).

Williams is the non-sexy pick, but unless we can grab a guy like Franklin, Pickett, or Wilfork in FA or unless the coaching staff has seen something in Chris Baker or Carlton Powell to believe they are our answer at NT, I think it's our biggest need.

If we do answer the NT question in FA, I'm hoping for a QB (Bradford/Clausen), Joe Haden, Mike Iupati, or another edge rusher if we lose Doom (I might be willing to reach for Graham if we lose Doom). Only after all of that, would I consider McClain or Bryant.

If I was really that worried about a WR, I might try to move around and grab Golden Tate late in the 1st or early in the second. I think he's going to have just as good a pro career as Bryant.

Everything really depends on FA and the combine/pro day showing, too. There are going to be some fast risers and fallers over the next couple of weeks.

McClain, and it's not even close. Bryant has the highest ceiling out of the three but McClain is as big of a sure thing as this draft offers.

man, this is just SO untrue. . . nosetackle is THE sexy pick around here, hands down and it's not even close. . . maybe linemen aren't looked at as sexy on ESPiN, but 90% of the draft talk around here is centered on the lines. . .
