German Marquez with 6 consecutive strikeouts to start the game. Crazy how he has developed into a legit ace this year.
Gonna have to take a walk down to Coors Field on my lunch break today just to be near the excitement. Feels like opening day around here which is great news for late September! Might see if I can snag a ticket for after work to catch the end of the game.
German Marquez ties modern-day MLB mark with 8 K's to start game
rest - http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...uts-start-gameDENVER -- Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez tied a modern-day major league record with eight straight strikeouts to begin a game on his way to setting the franchise record for most K's in a season.
Marquez matched a mark in Wednesday's 14-0 rout of the Philadelphia Phillies that was set by Houston lefty Jim Deshaies on Sept. 23, 1986, and equaled by New York Mets righty Jacob deGrom on Sept. 15, 2014.
The major league record is held by Mickey Welch, who had nine straight K's on Aug. 28, 1884, for the New York Gothams.

Downtown was fun last night. Didn't leave work til 6:30 and it still took me an hour and fifteen minutes to get home. It felt like playoff atmosphere down here.

Jon Gray looked like a deer in the headlights yesterday they should've pulled him after the first hit... So if both the Rockies and Dodgers win today it's a one game for the division game in L.A. on Monday? Crazy.
Why in the hell did they start Gray? Dude had been trash all season. This is why I have trouble getting behind baseball. A home field advantage on the line and you put the worst of your lineup on the mound? Dumb shit.
