rest - http://m.mlb.com/news/article/244150...layer-of-week/Fresh off his first career All-Star Game start, Nolan Arenado went on a weeklong tear that all but cemented his status as one of the best players in baseball.
The Rockies' third baseman was rewarded for it Monday, earning his fourth career National League Player of the Week Award for a seven-day stretch that featured probably Arenado's best career game.
Arenado hit .458 (11-for-24) with four home runs and 13 RBIs last week, with three of the homers and seven RBIs coming in a 18-4 thrashing of the Padres on Wednesday. The first three-homer game of Arenado's career was the 16th in Rockies history and seventh in the Majors this season. The seven-RBI game was the second in as many seasons for Arenado, who is well on his way to a third consecutive RBI crown.

As such, the Rockies went ahead and acted like a legit contender by making a trade for a new setup man.
That pitcher? Philadelphia Phillies righty Pat Neshek, whom was acquired at the cost of prospects Jose Gomez, J.D. Hammer, and Alejandro Requena, the teams announced:

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has had an excellent season in 2017 and in the month of July, it was no exception as Major League Baseball announced that he was the player of the month for the month of July. The last time that he won the National League Player of the Month award in September of 2015. This is the 19th time that a Rockies player has won the National League Player of the Month Award. Here are the others:

Arenado should be the leader for the MVP discussion. In my opinion, of course. Arguments can probably be made for Justin Turner, Max Scherzer, Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper. Probably missing someone else.
