LOUIS — Jose Reyes, the Rockies' suspended shortstop, will report to the team's spring training facility in Arizona on Thursday, the team said. He will speak for the first time since his arrest in November on domestic violence charges before going through a workout with Rockies officials in attendance.
Major League Baseball suspended Reyes last week through the end of May for violation of its domestic violence policy, a total of 51 games. He has not been with the Rockies since the end of last season.
Reyes can start playing on June 1, but it will likely be in the minor leagues as he prepares for a return to the major leagues.
Reyes' future with the Rockies is not certain. Rookie Trevor Story won the starting shortstop job in spring training and has hit 11 home runs. The team has no intention of playing Reyes ahead of Story.

Hopefully, this is the truth. The team has no intention of playing Reyes ahead of Story.

rest, plus video - http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/15...y-performancesNL MVP: Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies. I could make an eloquent case here for Dexter Fowler, Daniel Murphy, Bryce Harper, Ben Zobrist, Clayton Kershaw or Jake Arrieta. But it's time to salute the ascendance of Arenado into the realm of elite, franchise-changing players. Did you know he's the only player in either league to rank among the offensive and defensive leaders on baseball-reference.com's wins above replacement leaderboard? Did you know that you'll be fined heavily for saying stuff like "Coors Field creation," because he has a .296/.367/.568/.935 slash line on the road? Did you know he has hit more road homers (28) than Coors homers (27) since the start of last season? All 100 percent true. Here's one NL scout's assessment of Arenado: "He's now moved into the top five players in baseball."

Now...the pitching continues to do well, the team continues to score ample runs and makes a run at the west division and he might actually have a chance to win the MVP. Hopefully the Nats pull a Nats and choke down the stretch.
Reyes worked out today.
from article:
full article - http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/15...ining-facilityRookie Trevor Story has excelled in his place, hitting .277 with 11 homers and 28 RBIs through Colorado's first 38 games, and the Rockies appear to have no intention of taking him out of the starting lineup.
Reyes, who is a switch-hitter, has lost some of his range, according to defensive metrics, but he still runs well and hit a combined .274 with seven homers and 53 RBIs last season with Toronto and Colorado.
Reyes is due $41 million in guaranteed salary over the next two seasons, so the Rockies will need to decide whether to put him in a backup infielder role or trade him.
"We haven't talked logistics of his fit on this club yet," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said this week. "But we will at some point. I'm just letting it play out."
