rest - https://www.denverpost.com/2019/02/1...ion-bud-black/SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Bud Black is not a man prone to hyperbole or empty praise, especially when it comes to starting pitchers. After all, Black was a pitcher for parts of 15 big-league seasons. He sets the bar high.
So, when the Rockies’ manager makes a bold statement, as he did Wednesday morning, you take notice.
On the first official day of spring training, Black was asked if the Rockies’ rotation was “as good as, or better than” the Dodgers, who’ve won the National League West six years running.
“The Dodgers have a very good rotation, and these are different rotations because they are different pitchers,” Black answered. “But we feel like on any given night, any given start, we can match up with anybody.”

rest - https://milehighsports.com/mlb-netwo...r-in-baseball/On Thursday night, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was named the No. 3 overall player in the MLB Network’s top 100 list.
This is the highest Arenado has been ranked by MLB Network in his career as he finished seventh in their rankings last season. Arenado is ranked ahead of superstars like Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Christian Yelich, Jose Altuve, and Max Scherzer.
The only players ahead of Arenado are reigning AL MVP Mookie Betts (No. 2) and superstar center fielder Mike Trout (No. 1). Both players have made their case to hold those two spots, but Arenado is certainly deserving of his top ranking as well.

Rockies finalizing an 8 year $255 million extension with Arenado, according to Jeff Passan.
I like that it's not 10 years. And potentially one of the best 3B of all time and clearly the franchise's best player of all time gets to finish his career here.
rest - http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...ension-rockiesNolan Arenado and the Colorado Rockies are finalizing an eight-year contract extension worth more than $255 million, locking up the star third baseman with a deal that can last through the 2026 season, league sources told ESPN.
After months of discussions, the agreement came together in recent days after the Rockies guaranteed an eighth season, according to sources. The deal, which will keep Arenado from reaching free agency following the 2019 season, will set a per-year record for position players. It also includes a player opt-out after the 2021 season.
Arenado, 27, is a four-time All-Star who has won a Gold Glove in all six of his major league seasons. He has led the National League in home runs three times, including 2018, when he hit .297/.374/.561 with 38 home runs and 110 RBIs.

Please let this happen. Let Freeland, Story and Marquez prove themselves for a couple more years then lock them up as well and we'll have one helluva core group of players.
A few minutes ago, Cecil and Mike stated on The Fan it is now reported at 260 million, and contains a No Trade Clause

Former #Rockies star Todd Helton to #Denver7 learning the amount of the pending Nolan Arenado contract "Damn. Good for him. He's the best I've ever seen (at third base)."

Texted with greatest #Rockies player Todd Helton, whose aforementioned title is in danger, and asked what he thinks of Nolan Arenado's pending deal. "He deserves everything he gets." Helton, a gold glover himself, marveled at Arenado's defense. #Denver7
