Nolan Arenado's walk-off, three-run homer gives him a cycle, the eighth cycle in club history. Rockies win 7-5. Wow.

Default Nolan Arenado’s walk-off homer completes cycle in Rockies’ historic win over Giants

The cliché is trite, no doubt about it. But on Father’s Day it was perfectly fitting.

    “These aren’t your father’s Rockies.”

With a dramatic ninth-inning rally, the Rockies stunned San Francisco 7-5 on a perfect Sunday afternoon at Coors Field.

The heroic moment for the ages was a walk-off, three-run homer by Nolan Arenado to complete the first cycle of his star-struck career. It was the eighth cycle in Colorado history.

As he took a current call, chants over “MVP! MVP!” rained down on Arenado.

Default 'Cycle for the ages!' Rockies, Nolan rollin'

DENVER -- No point in washing Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado's special Father's Day uniform. Every stain, from dirt covering the front to some oddly thick, red blocks on the left sleeve, commemorate history. Arenado delivered his first career cycle with a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rockies a 7-5 victory over the Giants.

"It's blood and it's not coming off," said Arenado, whose happy bloodshed came when the bill of Charlie Blackmon's helmet caught him above the left eye in the wild celebration that was touched off by his shot to left field off Giants closer Mark Melancon.
    Full Game Coverage

"It's No. 1," said Arenado, who had not hit a walk-off home run since 2013, and had not homered since June 3 this year. "Obviously, it's one of the best moments of my career. Winning the WBC [for Team USA this year] is up there. I've had some big homers, but this by far is the best."

"A cycle for the ages!" Rockies radio broadcaster Jack Corrigan called it on KOA.

Default Rockies’ Nolan Arenado second in All-Star Game fan voting; Charlie Blackmon looking like a starter

The latest All-Star Game fan vote count was revealed Monday and it showed that Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado remains in second place behind Cubs’ fan favorite Kris Bryant.

Arenado is having a monster season for a Rockies team that leads the National League West with a 46-26 record, marking just the second time in franchise history that they’ve been 20 games overs .500.

Arenado leads the majors with 26 doubles, while batting .299 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs. He had perhaps the best day of his career Sunday, hitting for his first cycle and topping it off with a dramatic, three-run, walk-off homer in Colorado’s 7-5 win over San Francisco at Coors Field.

Bryant, the 2016 National League MVP, has received 1,603,326 votes, while Arenado is relatively close behind with 1,300,612. Bryant is batting .264 with 15 home runs, 28 RBI and 14 doubles.

Desmond and Story's at-bats were pathetic. Jesus, bases loaded one out you have to get at least one run in. Desmond has been disappointing in those spots this year and Trevor is a K waiting to happen in that spot. Yuck.
