https://www.mlb.com/news/russell-wil...eagues-historySCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Russell Wilson was so enthusiastic and diligent about baseball that he once met with a Rockies club official to work on double-play pivots -- in a parking building in Charlotte, N.C. Back then, the Rockies believed Wilson’s athletic ability and work ethic would get him to Denver someday.
Well, it did.
Ba-dum-bum.
A million -- maybe literally that many -- little quips like that flew around the internet when word broke that, according to multiple reports and sources, Wilson -- who left baseball for football, and won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks -- is headed to the Denver Broncos in an agreed-in-principle trade.
The story of how Wilson ended up one of the best quarterbacks in pro football is worth retelling. And the Rockies, who drafted him in 2010 and played him at Short-Season Tri-City and Class A Asheville, don’t even mind helping tell it.

rest - https://www.denverpost.com/2022/03/1...-introduction/Kris Bryant, the Rockies’ new $182 million man, set his own expectations Friday. And he set the bar a mile high.
“I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have never played on a losing team in the big leagues and I don’t plan on doing that here,” Bryant said during his introductory news conference at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Rockies owner Dick Monfort, who negotiated the seven-year deal with agent Scott Boras, upped the ante.
“This is a great day for us,” Monfort said in his brief introductory remarks. “Just so many things make this feel really, really right. We’re extremely excited to have Kris with us for the next seven years, and to help us win that elusive World Series that we are all looking for.”

The deal includes an opt-out after the fourth season, sources said.
Story hit a crowded free-agent field -- alongside fellow shortstops Carlos Correa, Marcus Semien, Javier Baez and Corey Seager -- with a résumé featuring two All-Star Games, two Silver Slugger awards and MVP votes during the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Power over speed, I like it.
So Chuck Nasty has to be the DH now, right?

Nice start to the season. I like this lineup. The pitching will inevitably fail us but the lineup is good.
Let's Rid3!!!!
We look good. Pitching will always be suspect but the lineup is good so far. Will be even better if McMahon and Blackmon start hitting.......Pretty excited I'm going to be in philly on the 28th of April so I get to see the Rockies for the first time live since 2012. Lets hope we are still playing well lol

Miggy makes quick work of getting that 3000th hit against the Rox. The Rox got absolutely boat-raced in the first game of the double header.
I was thinking about this with Miggy, he has 500 HRs 3000 hits and is the last guy to win the Triple Crown in the MLB and he isn't the best player in the history of his franchise.
Can any of you name the greatest Detroit Tiger of all time?
