I can't decide whether I like that approach or not. The idea being that you play matchups at the beginning of the game and then have a long-relief arm come in and pitch. They're doing it because of a lack of starting pitching rather than any real strategy advantage.

I tend to think it's not a good plan, because you have less arms to work with when the leverage gets higher. Then again, the leverage won't be high in any inning if you give up 7 in the first.
