I don't dislike Weiss, but he was always in over his head. Not sure if he ever really brought much to the table in terms of value add.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with Kiszla, but maybe this team ought to hire a former pitcher as a manager, like Bud Black... I'm not overly enamored with Black - but for all this teams pitching problems, it can't hurt to try.

The pitching problem is organizational. Maybe Black might have some success with reclamation projects like Kansas City has, which is a good thing to be good at doing in a small to mid-size market. The Rockies had some mild successes this year in the pitching department, but this is the organization who has never been able to develop pitching and promoted the guy in charge of developing pitching to GM last year.

Yes, a manager isn't going to suddenly fix all of the organization's pitching problems... But my hope is that with Briedich's renewed focus on it - perhaps a strong leader who understands all of the nuances of pitching in the bigs would bring something to the table that this team's been missing.

I thought Anderson, Chatwood and Gray had positive seasons and could be seen as a positive direction pitching-wise, but until those seasons are repeated, it doesn't mean much.
