rest - http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci...latroy-hawkinsLaTroy Hawkins, the veteran right-handed closer who added a measure of stability to the Rockies' otherwise shaky bullpen, will be returning to the team for the 2015 season.
The Rockies announced Friday afternoon that they are picking up his $2.25 million club option. Additionally, infielder/outfielder Matt McBride has been outrighted off the 40-man roster.
The Rockies are also close to announcing a decision on left-handed starter Brett Anderson. The team must decide whether to exercise its $12 million option on his contract. If the Rockies don't, Anderson will become a free agent, and the Rockies must pay him a $1.5 million buyout. An announcement on Anderson could come as soon as Saturday.

THIS ONES FOR JOHNWOULD YOU RATHER WIN UGLY, OR LOSE PRETTY?
Not trading Hawkins toward the end of last season was a terrible non-move. What good is a 40+ year old closer to a team with no hope of the postseason?

Okay, now that was a good post versus your last one of trying to compare me to Joel.
As far as Hawkins goes I just worry that by the time we are actually ready to contend (if that happens and God knows I hope it does) that Hawk will retire and we'll be breaking in a new closer. I really like Hawkins I just wonder if the right thing to do long term wasn't to get something for him when we could, plus it might have been nice for him to latch on to a contender.
