rest - http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci...rockies-beforeTroy Tulowitzki, who ramped up his rehabilitation Wednesday with a full round of batting practice, said that the Rockies' fall to the bottom of the National League should force the team into changes before next year.
"I think that's why I came out numerous times and said I want to win," Tulowitzki said. "It doesn't mean I want out of here. It means I'm sick and tired of losing.
"Something needs to change. Hopefully that comes fairly quickly. You can't force it. But at the same time, we're all frustrated with this year — especially me."

I love Jonah Keri... Good piece on the state of the Rockies.
Good luck trying to settle on the low point for the 2014 Colorado Rockies.
After getting off to a 22-14 start that had them tied for first place on May 7, they’ve gone 22-54 since, the worst record in the majors during that span. If they played at that pace across a full season, they’d post the seventh-worst showing for any National League team since 1900. As it is, they’ve got the worst overall NL mark on the year, and are likely on their way to a third consecutive last-place finish in the NL West. They might post the worst record in the franchise’s 22-year history.
In short, it’s been a miserable season in Denver, and the lowlights are innumerable. Blame a toxic combination of injuries, poor run prevention, and incompetent ownership.

That game last night was fun to watch though. I liked seeing McKenry have a good game. At this point he's a better all around player than Willin.
I really like our lineup when they're healthy, sans Rosario (he needs to go IMHO) but holy shit do we need help on the mound.

That is twice this season I've seen the Rockies lose a game with the tying run on base by umps having terrible strike zones. In both games the Rox were making late runs and we're called out on strikes at least six inches out of the strike zone. Come on ********, we don't need any help losing.

These guys are getting harder and harder to watch. WTF was Dickerson thinking?

http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci...will-miss-restRockies all-star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has suffered another significant injury.
Rockies head trainer Keith Dugger said Wednesday night that Tulowitzki has a torn labrum in his left hip and will have surgery on Friday in Vail. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Marc Philippon.
Tulowitzki, obviously, will miss the rest of the season. Dugger said recovery time is expected to be about five months.
Tulo has been on the disabled list since July 19. He currently leads the National League with a .340 batting average.

He was on first and the batter (forgot who) hit a fly ball to center and Corey inexplicably just kind of stopped running about a yard from first and got thrown out by the CF. It was a weird play. EY was telling him to get down, he would have beat the throw back pretty easily but it was like he misunderstood EY's instruction and almost started to go back toward 2nd. Just another in a long line of boneheaded shifty plays by the Rox this year.

rest - http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci...do-rockie-lifeAs Todd Helton emerged from the dugout at Coors Field Sunday afternoon, theme music from "The Natural" filled the ballpark. Thunder rolled in the distance. Fans wearing No. 17 jerseys filled the stands.
But it was Helton's 11-year-old daughter, Tierney Faith, wearing a black dress and black, high-top Converse All-Stars, who put the memorable day into sweet perspective.
"My daddy has been a Colorado Rockie my entire life," Tiereny said. "This stadium has been my second home. Thank you for that.
"Now that my daddy has been home with us this season — a lot. I want to ask you one question. Do you want him back? Just kidding, Daddy. I love you. We are so proud of you."

from article:
full article - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...k_col&c_id=colDENVER -- Unless something happens to change his address, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is in for a long and productive career with the Rockies -- as long as he avoids injury. In many ways, Todd Helton lived Tulowitzki's future.
Tulowitzki has something else in common with Helton now -- surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. However, Tulowitkzi had it Friday at age 29, at a much earlier stage than Helton, who had it at the end of his next-to-last season, 2012, when he was going on 39.
So by getting it fixed with plenty of good years left, Tulowitzki and the Rockies hope this means not only increased health in 2014, but less of a risk for the leg injuries that have been nearly a constant throughout Tulowitzki's career.

What an amazingly fun day to be a Rockies fan. Helton jersey retirement ceremony, Drew Stubs walkoff, and Cuddy hits for the cycle. So much fun to watch. This is what it should always be like.
