Even in a league with Beltre and Longoria, he's being referenced as a possibility for the Gold Glove. Considering the politics involved and how writers like to stick with what's familiar, I dont see it happening. Plus, even with leading the world in doubles and batting over .300, he doesnt have the offensive numbers those guys have (not that it should matter, but apparently does).

Here's a clip to see his natural instincts.

Here's a link of stuff he did in 2012. Keep in mind he was only up for 2 months and even better........he's only 20 years old.

I played 3B in softball when I was in my early 20's. Now my son plays there and man 1B...unless a strong lefty is up...then I play short rightfield.

It can be terrifying. But I'm in a coed league so every other batter my life is spared.

Very impressive. Looks like we have a really good crop of 3B in the MLB right now.

I think once Hardy's contract is up, Machado will move back to SS. But if he doesnt...I'm okay with him at third.

If Arenado can continue to improve his defense, he can be a mainstay at 3rd. But remember...it was less than year ago that they considered moving him to first because of his defense at third. He's made strides so far. We'll have to see if it continues. Worst case I think he can grade out at ML average at 3B. As long as he uses his bat, he has a chance to stick there.

Is Brooks Robinson the concensus best defensive 3B of all time? Is it even debatable?

I think Schmidt might be the closest to him, but no...even with bias aside...I dont think anyone comes close to Brooks. Most players dont even play 16 years and Brooks won 16 gold gloves. Most eer for any position player

Coach, what do you think of Todd Helton as a defensive 1B from a career standpoint?

I think he was very good. If not for the likes of JT Snow, Pujols, Lee, AGon etc...who were all amazing defensive players, I think he would have won more GG's. SOmetimes players get stuck in a position full of talent and it's tough to get recognized. He's an example

Default Rockies move reliever Edgmer Escalona to DL, call up Josh Outman

The Colorado Rockies placed hard-throwing right-handed reliever Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Taking Escalona's place in the bullpen will be left-handed reliever Josh Outman, 28. He will be available for Tuesday night's game against the Washington Nationals at Coors Field.

Escalona, 26, injured his right elbow pitching Sunday afternoon against the San Diego Padres. He underwent an MRI on Monday. The test revealed no significant structural damage, but the injury was severe enough to land him on the DL.

Chaz was trying not to be bias. I won't.

    It's not even ******* close.

Re: Arenado's defense...Mike Moustakas made a huge jump in his defense between his stint in Double A and the Majors, so much so that his best asset to the team is in the field right now (which isn't saying much because his offense is pretty lousy right now), but that I think is a decent comp, defensively, to Arenado's improvement. He was slated early on for corner outfield, then flashed glove when he got up, and he's probably not going anywhere now.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
