Default Rockies injury updates: De La Rosa, Guthrie, Outman on way back

After three extended spring training outings, Jorge De La Rosa will make his return to the mound in a game that counts, working five innings and roughly 70 pitches for Class-A Modesto on Wednesday.

A year removed from surgery, he’s anxious to begin his march back to the big leagues. His schedule is mapped out to make two starts apiece for Modesto, Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs. After his second start in Modesto, De La Rosa will throw a bullpen session in San Diego for the Rockies.

“I am excited about this,” De La Rosa said today. “My velocity has been OK. I am around 91 to 92 mph and have hit 93 mph. Everything is good.”

I still have faith in Chacin. The confidence is just shot right now, was starting to think its a preperation issue. Hes still only 24 years old and a very capable starting pitcher so hopefully he gets his mind right in the Springs and comes back strong (reliever?) later on this season.

You hate to see it get to that point with that good of a player.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

And Cliff Lee, Roy Halliday. I'm sure you can find plenty of great pitchers that have been sent down due to command issues early in their career. That being said, we will see if Chacin can get through this and become one of those great pitchers.

I was referring to the loss of confidence that transformed them from a good player to a bad one. Hughes had a great 2010 season...and has been crap ever since.

By the way...thanks for Jason Hammel. 4-1 after today (only loss was a 2-1 game) with an ERA at 2.08. Lindstrom hasnt been shabby either. ERA of 0.00.

    How's Jeremy Guthrie doing? 2-1, 5.92 ERA...Disabled List

I really didn't want to see Hammel go, but I also thought he needed a change of scenery. Glad to see him pitching well. I also wish Aaron Cook would just learn to hang it up.

At this point, I'm almost prepared to take any Rox pitcher with a 4.5-5 ERA. That last 2 have been paying off fairly well, so far.

For your guys' sake, I hope Clint Hurdle doesn't start doing the things that got him fired from Colorado.

I think anybody who didn't see the Rockies' pitching woes coming was fooling themselves. This is what happens when a team continues to try to build a pitching staff on the cheap.
