Default Editorial: For Jamie Moyer, a classic victory by a classy pitcher

    How 'bout that Jamie Moyer?

Not only did the Rockies' crafty lefty become the oldest pitcher to win a game in major league history Tuesday night — he's 49 — but he did it the same way he's been doing it for 25 years, with his own blend of wits and guts and a fastball that barely catches the eye of a radar gun.

So how old is 49 in baseball years?

In the classic movie "The Natural," and in the not-quite-as-classic "The Rookie," heroes Roy Hobbs and Jimmy Morris are over-the-hill ballplayers who attempt to have one last hurrah before the game passes them by. Their age: 35. And Crash Davis, whom Kevin Costner's character was based on in "Bull Durham"? He was 33 when he finished his career.

im going to the game tonight. 3rd row behind the dugout....Look for me on tv and for the to win. They usually do when I am in attendance and drinking. I will be drinking.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I got an invite to sit in my friend's work seats next month, which is like 3rd row behind home plate... You may remember me talking about these seats before - I've sat in them twice - the first time against the Braves Alan Embree took a line drive off of his leg, which broke it and he had to be carted off. The next time Juan Nicasio took a linedrive to the neck and had to be carted off.

So I'm hopeful that I can sit in these seats without one of our pitchers being carted off again.

    So it's your fault.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Well it could just as easily be one of my friends' fault, as they were also common denominators. But yeah, one of us is definitely to blame.

Is that because you lose touch with reality when you are drinking or because they actually win? And if its because they actually win, why won't you offer yourself to the Rockies as some sort of lucky talisman like a "Rally Drunk" or some sort of thing?

Because im all about hockey. Idgaf about baseball unless im at the games. And while I enjoy going, I would not want to go that often as their good luck charm but look. We spanked the hell out if them. We win when I go and I drink. Amen.
    The end.

Very good outing by Nicasio last night. I hope Chacin can keep it going against the Brewers tomorrow.

After the Nuggets game , I turned over to the Rockies, just in time to see Todd hit a pinch hit grandslam, in the bottom of the 8th, which tied the game, and they immediately switched the camera to the stands to show Manning & Decker, wearing Rockies' hats, high-fiving each other.

Default Peyton Manning Grateful For Rockies’ Hospitality

DENVER (AP) – Peyton Manning felt right at home with Todd Helton and the Colorado Rockies.

Manning dropped by Coors Field on Sunday morning to visit his pal before the Rockies played the New York Mets.

Manning and Helton were quarterbacks at the University of Tennessee in the mid-1990s. Manning recently signed with the Denver Broncos to become their new QB.

When Manning was going through his rehabilitation from neck surgery during the NFL lockout, Helton helped arrange for him to use the Rockies’ facilities to work out.

Juice with a walk off 3 run jack!

Cargo also pitched in with 2 home runs and pomeranz went 6.1 innings with only 1 earned run.

It was a great game. We only have to suffer through one more Chacin start before they send him down to AAA (Unless he gets his head together). Then we'll see White again (I think)

I just saw that and was going to post something. I really hope he can get his head on straight and get back to 2010, 1st half 2011 form. He is a joy to watch pitch when he's on.
